Hi All
We are hearing on the grapevine that Romec has lost the POL contract in full. Due to a management error in the tendering process. From all accounts there will be an anoucement on the 7th of April. Can anyone shed any light on this.

If true did they really lose it because of a management error, or perhaps a Baldrick type plan

The union understands that POL’s preferred option was to extend the contracts for 12 months but that this was rejected on cost grounds by Royal Mail/Romec.

Re: Romec Loss of POL Contract
The word going around is that RoMEC only tendered for package 5 ie everything... Where as our competitors tendered for package 5 and then individual tenders for packages 1,2,3 and 4. Where 1 2 3 4 are cleaning, electronic security, FM, Other services and 5 being everything. Which left no fall back position in event of not winning package 5. Arogance, Stupidity or willfull breakup of the company ?

If this is true it will put the cat amongst the pigeons,as only last week they sent out preference letters to engineers, you could accept the redundancy offer, stay and work on royal mail or stay and work on p.o.l. It now looks as if one of the options has disappeared ,this cannot end well,if anyone knows what is going on please post.

Yes we did. Our top management should be sacked on spot. We have not been even shortlisted.
