It could be said that telephones compete with mail, so do we ban BT and mobile company workers from the CWU as well.

Think the CWU might just be interested in more revenue from the subs.

Track and trace on every itemCan you imagine how long our present rounds would take if we had to do that? If this is indeed true then I dare say they have faster and more reliable equipment than we have. You also have to wonder if TNT will continue to shove their pkts to us via downstream access. In addition, for the first time, every letter is scanned, with a track and trace service to the door.
The PDA's we currently operate with are absolute gash......it's a joke ...while the hierarchy claim to be taking the business into to 21st century we are given Stone Age equipment to use
It's a joke when the catalogue guy or TNT guy has a decent bit of kit that captures your signature at the first attempt..and after giving in you have to resort to writing or sticking the barcode on a P739 card....."just sign next t'barcode love"

Re: TNT in Liverpool
I spotted a couple of TNT guys working a small residential area here last year. Don't think they were doing door drops because the two were working together, in full uniform with trolleys.
Have they been delivering mail in Scotland for a while now?

Re: TNT in Liverpool
As posted on Facebook:
This is Liverpool's LABOUR Mayor who seems quite proud about the fact that he 'invited' TNT to set up in Liverpool, creating an alleged 500 jobs.
What Labours Mayoral PR machine doesn't tell you is that this now puts 800 Royal Mail jobs including my own in jeopardy!
The Mayor stated in a Radio interview with BBC Radio Merseyside, that his office helped to facilitate TNT coming here and gave 'assistance' from the 'Mayoral Fund' and a premises to operate from.
The EU Directives on the 'Liberalisation of Postal Markets' FORBID any such assistance from PUBLIC funded bodies whether directly or indirectly as STATE AID! It is in direct breach therefore of EU Directives on 'Fairness policy' if this is the case.
This is yet another example of LABOUR not giving a 'stuff' about workers & trade union members by openly endorsing, promoting and advertising a PRIVATE FOREIGN OWNED MULTI NATIONAL COMPETITOR WHICH HAS AN AGENDA TO 'DESTROY' JOBS & DAMAGAE ROYAL MAIL, by actions such as this and by giving 'DSA' CONTRACTS for council mail to rival companies to process OUTSIDE of the local area, then dump it on Royal Mail to deliver with even LESS revenue to support existing jobs, which gave local people disposable income to spend in the local economy.
Of course, I welcome new jobs, BUT NOT WHEN 'FAIRNESS' RULES ARE 'BROKEN' AND IT PUTS BETTER PAID & CONDITIONED JOBS AT RISK!
IS THAT NOT SOMETHING THAT THE 'PARTY OF THE UNIONS' HAS ALWAYS FOUGHT TO KEEP & EXPAND ON? PAY & CONDITIONS?
YET WE HAVE THAT SAME SAID PARTY OPENLY ENDORSING,
'THE RACE TO THE BOTTOM!'
Not sorry Mr. Mayor, but this 'deal' needs top be 'returned to sender!'
This puts OUR JOBS at risk by taking AWAY the very work that Royal Mail has always done & at a fair price and a 'rebated' price for business.
Royal Mail profits went to the Treasury to support the welfare of this country.
TNT's profit from this will most likely go across the Channel to support the failing TNT Dutch operation, meaning that, that money is 'LOST FROM OUR LOCAL ECONOMY!'
That is NOT good for business in anyone's language!

Re: TNT in Liverpool
It could be said emails are in competition too but I don't recall a BT worker popping a bill through my door nor a laptop. We are talking like for like in essence, feet on pavement hand through letter box - just not as frequently. As for transport............well lets see a train drop me at my door.janitor wrote:It could be said that telephones compete with mail, so do we ban BT and mobile company workers from the CWU as well.

Moya has been lobbying MPs and the business is writing a stern letter to Ofcom asking them to put a stop to all TNTs naughty cherry-picking.dvbuk55 wrote: I say again what are we going to do about it .............it may even be part of the AFG 2014 how would we know?

Oh and we are getting rid of about 1300 non operational managers.
