It was always going to be managers being let go first, especially from areas outside of delivery. The number of managers or 'team leaders' in things like Customer Service means they basically have to invent jobs for themselves sometimes.
You could probably cut about 10 managers in my site alone in Customer Service and there would be zero effect, that's not even including the 'acting/deputy team leaders'.

How many team leaders do they have "in things like Customer Services"?Minischoles wrote:It was always going to be managers being let go first, especially from areas outside of delivery. Well in a centre of roughly 150 people, we have 10 permanent team leaders and 15 deputy team leaders, plus the Duty Manager and the Site manager. So roughly 1 manager for every 7 people.Brain Fury wrote:How many team leaders do they have "in things like Customer Services"?Minischoles wrote:It was always going to be managers being let go first, especially from areas outside of delivery. Thanks for the poll TBT.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 54&start=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;El-Bandito wrote:Any chance of a poll on RMC to see how many give a f#ck?
If there is a strike, there will be a lot of posties that will be shoved into a corner. Especially if "true union people" refuse to cross the picket line. I have serious reservations about this. RMG will see this as a chance to destroy ALL the union workers, imho.
This is phase 1. Next will be DOM's in 2015/16 then I feel there will be at least another 10% cull of frontline staff in 2016/17. This is just the beginning.

Been told by a delivery manager that there would be not " much " cul for delivery side managers because 1300 manager jobs would be gone from other side ( Admin and mail centres ).

Special Deliveries have reduced so much, as Tracked have increased, that it will never be "just specials on sat"mr deeds wrote:uso will go ...we will be mon-fri in the end with maybe just specials on sat ...25000 floaters gone and a massive van fleet not running on sat imagine the savings that would be made???? dont have to be sherlock

The USO is at risk from End To End competition no doubt about that. TNT have taken over 10% of total traffic and 20% of mech from where TNT is in operation in London. Too early to establish the loss in Manchester and Liverpool. Understand Edinburgh and Bristol are next but other areas will see TNT in operation in cities and large towns.mr deeds wrote:uso will go ...we will be mon-fri in the end with maybe just specials on sat ...25000 floaters gone and a massive van fleet not running on sat imagine the savings that would be made???? dont have to be sherlock
TNT already have 24% of DSA traffic all they do when they set up the delivery service area in towns and cities is to decide whether they deliver the DSA traffic themselves or put it into the Royal Mail network. If they decide to deliver it themselves then it is lost to the inward Mail centre , mpu to MGV drivers and network drivers as well as to delivery staff.
TNT postmen and women also carry yellow stickers which say delivered by Royal Mail and items they choose not to deliver they put back into Royal Mails system. However unless these items go through revenue protection so they are charged to TNT then Royal Mail end up delivering them for free. We are seeing this happen more due to the fact that all the items TNT deliver is sequencing Mail.
Amazon direct is also a risk as they now deliver on a Sunday and in just over 14 months they have become a bigger parcels delivery company then Parcelforce and are close to a partnership deal with Yodel.
There is no prospect of a Monday - Friday service . All big customers see Saturday as a key component to growth in the parcels market. In fact Amazon direct , yodel and DPD all are either delivering on Sundays or have announced plans too.
Royal Mail senior management have openly said Even if they were not bound by the USO they would not consider Saturday as a day when they did not operate a delivery service , in fact when pushed they said if they had to choose a day when they did not operate they said Monday.
The Agenda for Growth agreement recognise the threat from competition and talked about how we can look at new products , we are losing Mail to TNT , Amazon Are choosing to deliver some of their own products instead of using Royal Mail. It should be a concern to everyone.
The CWU have got guarantees about our members conditions which are the best in the TU movement.
Clearly the less traffic that Royal Mail has due to TNT and Amazon Direct then the less jobs Royal Mail have.
This is why it is important that we force off Comm to give TNT the same quality targets as Royal Mail , that TNT has to contribute to a USO fund which protects it especially rural deliveries and that we force off comm to stop wrecking the delivery service in the UK
