I believe RM served notice that enhanced VR terms would be withdrawn around June/July time for support staff so for many the decision to leave has already been made. When it comes to crossing picket lines admin managers (and some LAs who are CWU represented) have been used but whether they had any real choice in the matter given RM's excellent record on B&H I'll let you decide, personally I wouldn't gloat about anyone losing their jobs .... well not quite anyone :Very Happy

I could not cross a picket line no matter what, but think the managers in our office will be asking for EVR as they couldn't wait to get out when i was there.

I find it difficult to shed a tear for people who bully and harass others on a daily basis.

The term 'manager' within RM covers a wide range of jobs many of which are non-operational and whilst I too wouldn't shed a tear for people who bully and harass others there is every possibility that most of those affected by this rationalisation program have little contact with frontline staff. The fact is that support structures within RM are overstaffed by comparison to the competition and it was only a matter of time before this happened ... that said people will be leaving and I just hope it is achieved voluntarily.

Different union, and not in dispute. How could they not cross the picket line?

With TNT looking to create 20 000 jobs, the obvious result will be us losing 20 000 more jobs.
The 1300 jobs announced today will be a drop in the ocean and my maths tells me the other 18 700 will be frontline staff.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

As they're already whinging about ''the scale of these job cuts'' why not offer the 1600 people positions in delivery and offer the redundancy packages to posties instead... I'm damn sure they'll find 1600 people in delivery who would snap their hands off for any form of redundancy payout.
