Time for a full on strike!

Post by pires07 »

It's reached the stage when this whole situation has gotten out of hand. Offices in Liverpool and London are quite right to go out on strike with regards to the later start times, everyone should follow their example, cause unless we're kidding ourselves on, once these changes are in there will be no changing them back again. people come on here and say its wrong what they have done and they shoud stick to the official action, rubbish, incase anyone hasn't noticed we are losing this battle hands down. On returning to work this morning we were called to a brief to explain what changes were coming our way, ie flexibility etc Its quite clear that these 4 days strike have had no impact whatsoever. all us muppets have done is lose 4 days more pay, and yes we're doing rolling strikes starting again next week, great laugh, is it not obvious to everyone that they didn't make any difference the last time as the changes are still coming in. Its time to stand up and say we're out on strike and not coming back till this farce is sorted out.

can understand your frustration . but believe me the strikes ARE working. take a look round your office and see how much of a backlog there is . read the papers . leighton and crozier now contradicting each other. listen to your dom and his laccy managers clearly lying through their teeth. only last week our dom told us pension reforms had nothing to do with dispute. 60 day consultation etc. a day later managers agree on pension reforms. where the f*** was the 60 day consultation for that one ?. we are winning . and victory is just around the corner. hang on in there mate. and watch all the lying cheating scumbag managers crawl back under their stones when it happens.
watch out. there may be a dom about

I FULLY AGREE WITH YOU M8, UNFORTUNATELY MY OFFICE WHERE TOLD TO DESIST FROM SUCH ACTION. I AM AT PRESENT VERY ANGRY THAT WE HAVE BEEN PUT IN THIS POSITION, WHY LOOSE 4 DAYS PAY AND THEN AGREE WITH ANY EX/ACTION R.M. THROWS AT US. ITS A TOTAL DISGRACE. THIS UNION HAS TO WAKE UP, DEFEND ITS POSITION, DEFEND ITS MEMBERS, AND TAKE THE FIGHT TO :cfo :lfo.
WHY OH WHY HAVENT BILLY OR DAVE BEEN ON THE NEWS CHANNELS EVERY HOUR EXPLAINING OUR POSITION ?

ONWARDS AND UPWARDS

The strikes are working tho, have a look at the latest proposal, theyre offering a much higher % pay increase than they said they could afford a few months ago. Theyve moved away somewhat from the "flexibility" its now only 30 minutes a day over youre work span and thats IF you have finished early on previous days that week. I really cant argue with that, we are paid our hours, lets work them, stop rushing around and you wont be finishing early and you wont owe them any time on the "heavier" days anyway. So theyve backtracked on those particular issues.
Theres still things Im against which theyre still proposing with regards to pensions and the seasonal hours and thats why we are still striking, but to say that the strike action hasnt worked is clearly not true.

There really is no need for a full on strike, the backlog as someone else has mentioned is HUGE, our loading bay area was full of mail when I came back to the office today Ive never seen so much mail in my life. Added to the mail that we didnt take out today which was about half the mail that was there this morning and the strikes are having a drastic affect on operations. What more would a blanket strike do other than to hurt us in the pocket more than we are being hit already ? In fact it could well weaken our positon as people cant afford to not work, its simple as that. People would feel forced to break the picket line and then theyve got us by the balls.

They're offering a higher % pay rise because you aren't getting any back pay. Next year it's 1.5% but they're both dependant on accepting the conditions, which someone has previously mentioned, once the later starts are in we've already accepted some so it is only a matter of time. Every credit to the guys who have stuck to their guns.

THATS THE REASON WE SHOULD ALL BE OUT AT THE PRESENT TIME

So, "we're out and staying out till we get our own way"
Sorry, but that really is blinkered and short sighted. How long do you think people will stay "all out"? A week? 2 Weeks? And in that time what are they supposed to live on? Pay their bills? Feed themselves and their families? An all out is exactly what Royal Mule want. They know full well it'd take less than a fortnight for over 99% of the workforce to be starved back to work. Then what have we achieved?
Some people on here really are just itching for a fight without even giving the implications a second thought. Irresponsible and basically bloody selfish.
These rolling strikes are having an effect and we need to stick with them.

Take your head out of the sand and smell the coffee. All out is not the way forward, you would not get the support you have now so give these tactics a chance and see what happens.

Stick with rolling action - that really worked a treat last time. I reckon both CWU and RM didn't realise how good/bad it was for them both.

Royal Mail have torn up all local and national agreements and have virtually de recognized the CWU.

They are doing whatever they want to us and we're bending over and taking it.

Unless the wildcats continue and spread we'll be out of the media by Friday and we'll be back to square one when we start more action next week.

:Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause Spot on mate. We are getting somewhere, this unofficial action is on the brink of f***ing us all up big time. A few people on here like to use the phrase "divide and conquer". Guess what...unofficial action will divide and conquer all of us for RMs benefit. Stick together, stick to official.

Like has already been said, if we go all out the strike will break in less than a month. The only way to win is to keep to the one day strikes but to stick rigidly to a work to rule. In my office they have had to hire more vans, tell colleagues they are now drivers and force them to take passengers and drop bags, this had made 90% of my office late and meant cut offs and less people doing O/T. If we really want to win we should also enforce an overtime ban. We've come this far lets not blow it now by being short sighted
