our vans are being fitted with black box trackers shortly. this was in wtl last week. we were told only vans from macclesfield ,stockport, rochdale, and oldham road manchester. why only these four offices in the north west area? surely all vans everywhere? do these offices book the most docket!!!!! perhaps it is just me to think royal mail have an ulterior motive? ONE POSTMAN in at macc today, he leaves on friday! so according to the royal mail ready reckoner 50% of staff worked normally!!!.......the strike is crumbling!!!!

DON'T GIV'EM YOUR MOBILE NUMBER THEN (DER)moon71 wrote:The trackers ive been told are to help the mangers identify exactly where you are and when, they also record your speed, breaking and acceleration. If the tracker stops for fifteen minutes, it will alert the office, as the programme they use will be able to do this. My manager stated that it will be useful in distribution, as if something pops up, missed collection point etc, they'll ring the closest officer , so as to do adhoc collections (guess they'll phone your mobile as drivers havent got radios). The competitors have had them some time. Interesting......

Then the ones who are not as quick as others will be getting the conduct!!! and if bag is heavy i struggle myself!!!!How soon do we think the walk staff will be tracked?SouthEastDO_Edin wrote:We were told on the picket line today by one of the most prominent Union reps in Scotland that Royal Mail plan to make us wear a GPRS while out on delivery. They will then know what time you finish your walk at. The plan to bank the hours and then at the end of the week/month will "insist" that you work the hours you owe them.
He reckons they will try to force you to take out another delivery or go back to the office and sort MS.
He also thinks they may use it against you when it comes to the Christmas pressure.

Illegal use of phones
Well we all know that it is illegal to use a mobile when driving - so they'll need to fit handsfree kits and supply mobiles as well as I hope no one here is going to be daft enough to give their manager their mobile phone number.
Another way to fight back - don't use your car and don't use your own mobile.
