IHR payoff is 34 weeks wages plus between 9 and 12 weeks pay in lieu of notice

The MTSF2 terms still apply so it depends on your age and length of service and the maximum VR at 57 with at least 20 years service is 104 weeks. But if you are still in a RM pension scheme you only get your (slightly enhanced) pension with 26 weeks VR.

Yes you get taxed at anything over £30k at 20%, but if you don't earn anything much in the rest of the tax year you should get a tax rebate for some if not most of it. I paid £5k tax, but got a tax rebate of £3.5k when I got a temp Xmas job.

Good luck. I took VR last summer and I'm glad I did.

Edit: Make sure you are not in any RM pension scheme including the Government backed one they introduced last year if you want to get the maximum vr payment.
