Don't have an actual link " Pinky1" but maybe TBT or Fishtank may have one seem to remember that it was covered some time ago in an LTB. The paid leave covered by a special leave request for hospital appointments is for seeing consultants and specialist who work within their own appointments diary where leave from work would be required but not for out-patients departments or GP appointments where you would be required to arrange outwith your working day. It has previously been posted that this special leave is at DOM discretion is basically red tape because to deny you time off your rep should take the matter up with the Employee Relations Manager for your area.

Go to cwu.org then postal and in further search type " hospital appointments" there are 15 notifications so scroll down till LTB 546/09 but as previously stated link to this LTB is broken so will have to check the reason for this.

This is taken from the Special Leave Guide for RMG...

Where regular treatment is occurring the employee should try and get appointments outside work hours and POL should help by arranging changes to working hours wherever possible. Managers should treat requests for additional time off with sympathy bearing in mind that a stoppage of pay will add to the stress of treatment. Individuals involved in hospital treatment should provide confirmation of treatment from their Doctor or hospital, and absences should not count towards attendance procedure.

Firstly, i'm sorry for not posting earlier, i forgot this thread

The union did reply with a copy of said LTB (the link is still broken), but it turns out that it is a BT agreement, so i thought that there isn't much point in posting it here. If someone wants it i'll quite happily pm them a copy.

Paid leave for hospital appointments is available to BT employees though, and has been since '09, so maybe something for Dave Joyce to get his teeth into for the benefit of Royal Mail workers
