Bring back the Harrington.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I would get rid of special delivery and signed for parcels

Now this is radical but I would reduce the working week to 35 hours - perhaps even 30 hours over time, with paid breaks for full timers, but limit the delivery span to 3 hours - 3.5 max. I wouldn't expect take home pay to remain the same but I would hope that the hourly rate would remain. This would reduce wear and tear on posties, and would give plenty of opportunity for overtime if you wanted it. In the perfect world anyone on 30 hours would do IPS on top of what they do now.

Will it happen, no.

Why not, its not flexible enough for Royal Mail.

But I can dream.

Why not get rid of letters too?
And while we are at it let's get rid of packets as well.
