Streatham were told this morning that we have to complete our walks every day regardless of how much work we have or what time of the day or night it is otherwise we won't get paid at all!!!. That is why we have walked out, we had no choice. They sent 90 posties to the canteen this morning and told us we must take our meal break together at that time even though there is only one person serving and we had to complete the break in 20 minutes. When we said that was impossible we were told 'not my problem'. Half the office were told last week they had to now get buses to their walks, this morning they are telling us we have to use trolleys. Some of the walks are over 0.5 mile away up steep hills. They just keep moving the goalposts. Most of us have got kids too and need to work to put bread on the table. This is the last thing we need but how can we work under these conditions.

im sorry about these problems in your office. may i ask what your union rep is doing about it as we all know royal mail cannot make you work after your finishing time.also the main wildcat strikes as far as i was concerned was about postmen being told to start later and that they didnt want to so they went out,if thats true then its totally unacceptable to take this drastic action.

well we walked this morning over the 6 oclock starts .I am in a liverpool delivery office.remember their shouldn't be any local agreements while the union is negotiating but royal mail take the executive decision to bully us into these start times without any negotition.my view on this is if you accept the 6 clock start time you accept everything that goes with it such as covering overtime and sickness for nothing or if you manage to finish early come back and do ips for nothing until your duty ends.

I am lucky my wife works ,which means i pick the kids up from school with the new start times this may not be possible so where is the family friendly company we work for.

sorry mate thats rubbish . just because we start at 6am does not mean we accept everything else. what is the point of going out on an unofficial strike thats what leighton and crozier want and what if the managers tell u dont come back till you start at 6am. you going to stay out forever. i understand you are angry so was i this morning but i did it under protest. we have to go along with the union and do this right and wildcat strikes are not the answer my friend

I am sorry you feel tat way but if your manager tells you tomorrow that he cant cover a walk on overtime and you'll have to do a bag as part of your duty i suppose your going to do it?

look mate honestly im not against you with this ,i just dont think its the right way. they tell me come in 6am i will have my meal relief then go out do my delivery make sure i work till my time, and no i wont be doing anyones walk for nothing. they cant enforce that on you as u work till your time no more.

streatham will gladly work till our time but if we bring so much as 1 letter back we have been told we will not get paid

In my local delivery office which is not my delivery office but the one where i live. the postmen there this morning were told to deliver to every fifth address to make yourselves seen by the public in the street.

so the answer is unofficial action how many postmen will stay out till they get what they want you will have to go back under these new times or what you gonnae live on fresh air

Although we SHOULD stick to official action there are also local issues, such as yours, which determine that other action HAS to be taken.
