Letter to Branches
No. 111/14
Ref: 230
Date: 17th February 2014
To: Branches with POSTAL Members
Dear Colleague
Workplace Coaches (WPC) in Delivery
The department is currently engaged in national talks with Royal Mail regarding Workplace Coaches (WPC) in delivery offices. Both parties have agreed that the existing agreement is out of date and needs to be revised and brought up to date. The first meeting took place over 3 weeks ago and on Friday last week we received a draft proposal from Royal Mail which is now under consideration. Further meetings are now being scheduled.
At the meeting 3 weeks ago we were informed that as far as the recruitment of WPC is concerned Royal Mail were still recruiting BAU coaches, but not using the full new process.
Branches should note that the use of any new process at this point in time would not be acceptable to the CWU as it is currently unagreed and any such proposals should be dealt with via the IR Framework. To be absolutely clear we have no objection to WPC being recruited to the agreed levels as stated in the national agreement where there are vacancies, and it is being done in line with the existing national agreement.
Any such instances where the national agreement is not being followed should also be brought to the attention of the department as a matter of urgency.
Any enquiries to Bob Gibson’s Office, quoting reference 230
Email address: hnutley@cwu.org
Yours sincerely
Bob Gibson
CWU Assistant Secretary - Outdoor

Does anyone know who, or what, a BAU coach is?

A mate of mine had an interview for WPC recently. He thought it would be easy. Said it was a right grilling. Said to the bloke"its for work place coach not CEO!" Before you just used to have to be the managers mate.

That's because, in a few years time, all the managers will have been replaced by some form of supervisor / work place coach !!! Just a theory...
