With offices where the full-time part-time split is 60/40 or even 50/50 you can't follow seniority completely because the vast majority of your senior people are full-time and if you follow seniority you won't have enough full-timers left to cover the reserve jobs.dingo wrote:Equally we know in some offices management have allocated duties for part timers which are signed by only part timers.
This is not done in many offices as deliveries are of the same span , it is just the indoor element which is different and therefore a lot offices signed for these on seniority.
If you don't have full-time reserves to cover full-time annual leave either the indoor workplan suffers or the budget suffers...or both.
At some point during the resign you have to stop giving the full-timers a pick and move over to the part-timers or as has happened in some offices you have two separate resigns with some duties allocated to part-timers. It's not ideal but it's what has to happen in offices that are carrying a high number of part-timers otherwise you have an office where all the duty holders are full-time, all the rest day cover and reserves are part-time and you end up with weeks where there is bucket loads of indoor time and no work to justify it and other high annual leave weeks where the IPS looks like the Marie Celeste.
