That was the point I was making earlier - if people are getting back that early, why are managers paying people OT to do your cut-offs? They should be sending out the early finishers with your excess as they wouldn't need to pay them a dime!

Problem is that the managers have finished earlier than the early starters and are not there to give them any work ....and the managers didn't start early to justify it !!!

agreed in our office this is what i am trying to find out,we have some not all ft finishing at least 1 hr every day forgetting breaks as noone takes them,you then have pt coming back doing 40 mins extra del and getting paid meanwhile ft have gone home! it really does not make sense and dom wont do anything about it !

Even when management know full well the regular culprits that finish early, they don't decide to add a bit to their duty - for whatever reason - usually because it causes too much aggro, but also because they know they can pull them up once in a while and ask them to do a little bit to help them out on a heavy day.

If the revision was done properly then there would be no excess and no early finishers - but that'll never happen.

If you mean me, then no. I'm just sick of being labelled a trouble-maker because I come in on time and do the job by the book, so frequently am unable to absorb, and/or need to cut-off. When PDAs are utilised to track us, at least then I will have evidence I can rely on to prove I'm not taking liberties out on delivery.

It will also put an end, hopefully, to people coming in early and cutting the job up. I know you think we should just mind our business as to what others are doing, but I'm afraid that other people cutting corners, DOES impact on us, because if you then turn round and tell your manager that you won't complete, on a round where a runner manages to get done, it makes you look the prick, despite doing nothing wrong.

If I had my way I'd love to see clocking on machines, but it will never happen, as RM realises just how many dumb postmen work for free every day.

Working at your own pace doesn't make you look like a prick. Putting up with abuse from managers when you have done nothing wrong does!

Don't worry I am sure sooner rather than later you will get your wish on the clocking in front!

I'm not so much worried about myself, as it's water off a duck's back, but it would be nice to be able to go in and do your job without having confrontations every day. I can see why others would feel pressurised. Yes I've volunteered to be tested many a time but still not been taken up on as of yet. I wonder why?

west of scotland offices having duties which are excessive from posties point of view are being tracked by pda and barcodes to time p&l
are they going to test duties which are easier and finish early.
also guys raise a fair point ,not all posties return to office that is the major problem some people are only working 30-35 hrs per week and others 39 +hrs
they are paid the same .
so i will put in a grevience demanding same terms and conditions as persons finishing early or they can insist on others returning to office as per rest of staff do
fair and equal workload.
and dont get me started on early starters
should insist on no lapsing , no savings ,nothing until everyone starts at proper time cant have office working to false budgets can we

if someone consistently work just about 30-35 hours instead of the contracted 39 hours, the effective* pay rate is then above the normal pay rate. In effect, they are earning more than because time is money...

The person might be using that extra hours to save on child care, can take on other task (even for money) and the person might have even excess energy reserves to work his/her day off (and still not even work the full hours if he/she insist on doing his/her round.

On the flip side, you have some working for nothing - they are in effect on less pay rate.
