How much time to do union related things?? Resource

Hi, I am pretty new to being a rep and have started resource meetings. Should I be allowed time to prepare for the resource meeting? What sort of time allowance is allowed or would look upon as being acceptable ?

Also, a rep in a close by office tells me he writes up what was said and puts on the notice board but he does this in his own time. Should this be done? I would like to do this but don't want to do it in my home time away from work. Should I be allowed time to do this? Should the Dom read it and agree its wording before it goes on the notice board?

It is up to you to argue for any release time you feel you need.
How do you plan to prepare for the resourcing meeting?
The minutes of the Resource Meeting are usually written up by the DOM for you to jointly sign (if you think they are a true reflection of the discussions at that meeting.)

Plan. I mean put together in written form all I intend to discuss with the dom. office issues. am I right to use resouce to do this?

I didnt know the dom should do this. my dom would not include all that was said because he never does what is asked, he always puts things off. so if i don't then agree with his notes it would end up going back and forth and not get agreed or put up.

Am i ok to put up my notes from the meeting on the notice board? could he demand i take them down?

I think you are overestimating the time you will need to prepare for the meeting but you can always try and blag yourself some extra release time.
Your DOM might go for it.

There used to be a template for the meeting but times change and all areas are different.
I would advise against putting in writing and placing in a public space anything your DOM might then use to try and conduct you.......

If you feel the notes of the meeting are not an accurate reflection of all discussions, then talk to the Area Rep and use the IR framework as appropriate.

when I do these we just discuss things at the end you know like who buys the custard creams and such.

I put brief reports up on our notice boards about everything. I especially like putting up the disagreements we are having and the answers to specific questions from members. It's your union board and you can put up basically what you like within reason. Managers deny reading it but they certainly do

I spoke with my dom today and told him what i intend to do. He said i am not allowed to put notes up on the cwu noice board relating to our resource meetings. He said he will write the notes up, including what he thinks needs to be included and display on his notice board.

Can he actually stop me from doing this/? What could he do if i did it even when he has told me not to?

What you mean there's a union notice board

I certainly knock the union but if the Area or Div Rep ever wandered into our unit, by mistake of course, he could perhaps see the last time the notice board had been updated - if he could get to it through the yorks full of packets, cardboard, empty bags etc.
