Not paid for work done

Post by MKDO »

Hello

New here, and new to experiencing some things I have encountered with Royal Mail... such as: not being paid AT ALL for an entire week's work, plus still waiting for overtime arrears to be paid...

My pay was messed up (I think I know the reason) because I had to take one day sickness leave as a result of illness that prevented me from genuinely coming to work (an illness of a type that has not affected me in over ten years). Result: no pay, and the issue cannot be rectified for a week (called HR... nothing they can do for a week). In addition, I am still waiting for overtime arrears from Christmas.

Love the job, but need to eat, pay my bills, feed my family... Is this the norm? I have never encountered this elsewhere in my working life...

Hard to remain motivated, and while others may throw in the towel or simply not turn up for work, I do continue to work, as normal, however how long do I allow this to continue?

Would Moya consider this to be acceptable?

But before you do contact your rep and or branch - if you are in the Union.

As far as I know DOMs can authorise emergency payments and the pay section at HR can pay a BACS transaction for the next day. If I am right your rep and branch should be able to push for it.

As for the Christmas overtime, approach your manager and explain the problem, even if he knows it already, and ask in a insouciance fashion, what the process is for a Grievance over unpaid overtime. That should get it moving,. You could also ask if he knows where the local small claims court is and should you use HRs address when filling out the forms.
