do angard phone you every day ?

I was an Xmas casual who was taken on by angard. My contract said from Monday the 27 jan. So I did get a phone call on monday the 27th and was told to go in from 6 to 10pm, as that was all they had. The next day I got no phone call, but went in anyway ( as i thought i was supposed to) but my name was not down on the signing sheet so I went home. I was told by another angard worker that unless you hear otherwise that you have to wait for angard to ring you every day to. confirm that you are in that day. Is this right ? I had just assumed i was on that shift every day. ?

They just phone you when there is work. It may be two/three days running, or not for a week ( or longer). You may be offered a different shift every time. Sometimes they offer you bookings in advance, like "next Mon Tues Wed, 6-10pm shift" but these are still prone to being cancelled by text. There may be a couple of Mail Centres where the work is more regular though,

I have only been in once since Christmas Eve and only had one other call since Christmas Eve where I couldn't work.

only had 3 shifts for the whole of January and I work at a large centrel sorting office so at the moment its down to pot luck
