During our present dispute with Royal Mail absolutely disgusting ‘pro-management’ rules have been introduced.
Firstly, some background about our delivery office in Macclesfield. There are approximately 150 staff and the office has been a thorn in the side of Royal Mail for all of the 15 years I have worked here. The staff working at Macclesfield are strong CWU members and are supportive of any victimisation shown to colleagues by Royal Mail management. On a number of occasions this support has taken the form of unofficial strike action, the most recent incident being when a colleague was suspended for not completing their round, due to attending a medical appointment relating to kidney dialysis. ALL strike action, official or non-official is always supported 100% - a rare thing nowadays, when compared to other local delivery offices.
In a bid to break this support, Royal Mail have sent a succession of “bully boyâ€

Thankfully, despite these threats Macclesfield has yet again remained strong. Our picket has had a really good turnout – the best ever – with as many as 35 postmen on a couple of days – spurred on mainly by managements tactics.
