The old style one was half way down my thighs - the new one is about waist level. It needs to just below the bum cheeks iMO.

Yes just below the bum would be the best length, and a bigger hood that actually covers your head lol and stays on!
Just say NO ....to the new agreement.

Any evidence at all for any of those assertions?

Only the experience of wearing it.
While it's true you'll never please everybody and to be honest I've seen worse periods of uniform (2003-2007) there are genuine flaws in some parts of the uniform allocation that should have been obvious from the outset if decent consultation had taken place.

The issues with the original Magnums and the Cat Trainers which were lethal in wet or icy conditions.
The large pocket on the trousers being on the wrong side. the other pockets not being deep enough.
The shirts are too short and ride up your back when you bend over, something posties do a lot of.
The Cagoule doesn't even manage the "showerproof" test.
The main jacket is a fleece which means it's too warm for most of the summer and useless when wet, It's also very poor quality especially the zip, it looks grubby very quickly and the outside pockets are too shallow.
The issues with the Stormproof have already been mentioned.
The hats are ok though.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

So no evidence that the uniform isn't tested, trialled or is cheap - just your opinion. That's fine. Why don't you put forward your comments and suggestions to the uniform manager?

An opinion I fully agree with. I don't think this uniform was tested much if at all, if it was most of the flaws listed above would have shown up and could have been corrected.

Yes totally agree about the useless hood, get a slight breeze and it always goes down.

Also the pockets are too small,my PDA always falls out,who designed this?

The Fleece is useless to keep you warm in anything other than a slight breeze, wear it under the stormproof or the cagoule and you feel like you are in a sauna.

In this latest batch of cold windy weather I've found the cagoule is best at keeping the wind out, and the fleece keeps you warm, but you have to keep opening the zip to access pens, 739's etc.

The stormproof coat isn't, after a couple of hours in torrential rain even that starts to let the rain in, and they take ages to fry out, longer than over night.
