It must be difficult working in a Mail Centre in the warm dry working environment deciding whether to have 2 or 3 sausages on the subsidised breakfast platter - not much danger of being worn out by 68....................nor 78 by all accounts, although obesity could be a problem I suppose.

Re: Has nobody thought of the Consequences of a "no" vote?
I wanted a 10year legal deal for our terms and conditions but we got a 5year deal. I think the union would have been embarrassed by the amount of members coming in on strike days. The Posties on deliveries have got to get together and stand together if they want RM management to back off I know in my old office that one pair who are doing Park & Loop duties are daily splitting up after they leave the office and the "passenger" Postie is taking his car out to do his bit. The union can't stop that and the management tend to choose to close their eyes until he either gets done by the old bill for using his car for business purposes or his car gets broken into or towed away. My point is that I know its not working in the delivery offices but the posties have to prove it wrong by getting their duties tested

That postman is not complying with BT2010 and in fact is more than likely breaking the law by failing to have insurance. The RM cover ceased on modernisation and his manager/s is/are complicit in an offense but of course won't take any blame and swear he/they knew nothing - he should be made aware of his position.rainbowwarrior72 wrote:I wanted a 10year legal deal for our terms and conditions but we got a 5year deal. It,s the same as these people who continue to deliver using mail bags when the method allocated to the walk is LWT.
Any accident they have on delivery will not be insured against within the Employers Liability Cover due to not using the right equipment. Why risk being maimed and then thrown out of your job without any compensation, ill health retirement, sick pay just for the sake of saving a bit of time on delivery. Idiots.

Why keep having a pop at the MC staff,we didn't come up with the deal, and many of us have,or did have,a lot of sympathy with DO staff?dvbuk55 wrote:It must be difficult working in a Mail Centre in the warm dry working environment deciding whether to have 2 or 3 sausages on the subsidised breakfast platter - not much danger of being worn out by 68....................nor 78 by all accounts, although obesity could be a problem I suppose.
You want someone to blame look at the CWU,RM management, and even a large number of DO staff who continue to do the job the wrong way, even though they should know better.

Re: Has nobody thought of the Consequences of a "no" vote?
Why? Take a look at the posts by MC staff, I don't see a lot of sympathy just greed. What is required is a NO vote and a show of solidarity not sympathy - but hey we'll be sympathetic when they're closing down MCs or selling them off to the highest bidder - a yes vote isn't going to change that.hubbahubba wrote:Why keep having a pop at the MC staff,we didn't come up with the deal, and many of us have,or did have,a lot of sympathy with DO staff?:

So all MC staff are to be tarred with the same brush?I've seen post from DO staff asking questions like "If the deal goes through, when will the backdated money be paid?",so that sort of negates that point.dvbuk55 wrote:Why? They are shortsighted and greedy people in all aspects of life, not just Mailcentres...
All this is just coming across as bitterness, and how that will build solidarity amongst different functions is beyond me im afraid...
And as for sympathy for closing MC's,that has been happening for years now, certainly before this deal, and even before BT2010 and i don't recall too much solidarity then either.
I repeat MC staff did not broker this deal, and MC staff alone cannot vote it in,so please direct you bitterness at the right people...

Well said hubbahubba and if they don't want it vote it out. But you will see most of them will vote it in just you will have the same few who will always oppose what ever is on offer !hubbahubba wrote:So all MC staff are to be tarred with the same brush?I've seen post from DO staff asking questions like "If the deal goes through, when will the backdated money be paid?",so that sort of negates that point.dvbuk55 wrote:Why? The closures of MCs was brokered by the CWU and Royal Mail and I don't recall a vote being called on the closures or being asked to support individual closures.hubbahubba wrote:And as for sympathy for closing MC's,that has been happening for years now, certainly before this deal, and even before BT2010 and i don't recall too much solidarity then either.

Re: Has nobody thought of the Consequences of a "no" vote?
It seems to be fashionable among mailcentre staff to blame all the problems in delivery on delivery posties chasing job & knock.hubbahubba wrote:All this is just coming across as bitterness
I'm not sure how that really can be the case in the offices that are facing the greatest difficulties because you're hardly likely to be complaining about bullying and harassment and unachievable workloads if you're finishing an hour early so something doesn't quite make sense here, Is it just a handy excuse the union uses to bail out on it's obligations?, I don't think it's difficult to understand why there might be some bitterness when people who are facing those difficulties are constantly accused of causing it themselves.
Out of 130 staff in my DO 3 or 4 start early and carve the job up, funnily enough they are all long time "stalwart" union members...or they think they are, That's just over 2%, I don't think they are really having an effect on Royal Mail's delivery agenda but no matter how many there were the union cannot on the one hand expect members to "do the job properly" with all the potential grief that may bring from management and then at the same time leave those members swinging in the wind.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: Has nobody thought of the Consequences of a "no" vote?
I didn't say ALL the problems in DO's are down to the staff that work there.I said there are a wide range of reasons for an equally wide range of issues, and for dvbuk to keep on sniping at MC workers is at best counterproductive, and at worst just breeds resentment amongst fellow RMG staff, just when we should be supporting each other the most.fishtank wrote:It seems to be fashionable among mailcentre staff to blame all the problems in delivery on delivery posties chasing job & knock.hubbahubba wrote:All this is just coming across as bitterness

Lets face it there are greedy/narrow-minded/selfish people in all walks of life, all i'm saying is treat people as individuals, rather than grouping them in a negative fashion...

well i dont go on that site but would hazard a guess and say that it was either a gaffer or a gaffers arse sniper that posted it.POSTMAN wrote:The Fishmeister is on fire tonight!
Slight flaw in what you've said tonight tho about Facebook, you fail to mention the London area processing rep who thinks the B&H in deliveries is down to........those in deliveries.
Just sayin' like.

Re: Has nobody thought of the Consequences of a "no" vote?
Mail Centre jobs have their own set of issues, they have become highly mechanised which in itself creates a different working environment and many of the manual tasks that remain are tedious and repetitive. That said they don't really compare to the role of a delivery postman who is out in all weathers and responsible for the delivery all of the mail on his round. There are MC OPGs who couldn't perform the task of a delivery OPG and many delivery OPGs who wouldn't want to work in a MC ... they are totally different jobs and IMO they should be graded separately.dvbuk55 wrote:It must be difficult working in a Mail Centre in the warm dry working environment deciding whether to have 2 or 3 sausages on the subsidised breakfast platter - not much danger of being worn out by 68....................nor 78 by all accounts, although obesity could be a problem I suppose.

Re: Has nobody thought of the Consequences of a "no" vote?
I'm not sniping I'm out and out criticising IMO there should be a separate vote. MC staff shouldn't be voting on issues that have no bearing on their terms and conditions - it isn't all MCs fault - offer them a carrot and they're going to bite but agreeing to this Agenda for Growth does NOT address the issues in the consultative ballot nor the issues on the IA Ballot all it does offer is money to those who aren't going to be subject to the agreement and so called protection for which we have to lose the ability to have a strike. This isn't a good deal by any stretch of the imagination something in short supply in some areas of RM.hubbahubba wrote:I didn't say ALL the problems in DO's are down to the staff that work there.I said there are a wide range of reasons for an equally wide range of issues, and for dvbuk to keep on sniping at MC workers is at best counterproductive, and at worst just breeds resentment amongst fellow RMG staff, just when we should be supporting each other the most.
