Cycle 2 work scheme

thinking of using this scheme, im an absolute novice though and would only really use it for travelling the 2 miles to work. Can anybody recommend how much I should spend ? Im looking at a hybrid bike.

I would advise looking at the bikes available in halfords. Find a bike that you like, remember that helmets and other cycling essentials can be bought at the same time. The process was pretty straightforward.

can you use discount codes and quidco to click and collect and then pay using your LOC ?

anybody know if you can use any of these discounts aswell ?

Just tried this but cannot register because my tax code is not valid according to this broken website. I'm putting in exactly what it says on my payslips and my P60 from last year which is 0T/0 also tried OT/O just in case it's O and not Zero.

I got the same, not valid, reply a few weeks ago. Quoted my tax code off my payslip.

Quidco worked for me when i ordered online with Halfords but i wouldn't rely on it, no idea on discount codes

does anyone know if when they apply to get the LOC sent by email, what sort of time does it take.

LOC is issued within 10 days after 15th of each month, usually. I received mine this morning.

I'm awaiting my LOC now. How do they send it? E-Mail or in the post?

How does Cycle to Work affect your Working/Childrens Tax Credits ? I would have thought they go up, but I`ve read that Working Tax Credit can be reduced for some reason. Thanks.

Tax credit declarations require gross salary figures.
As the repayments for cycle2work are deducted before tax etc your gross salary is slightly reduced. This should have a small effect on tax credits (lower salary, higher award payment).
Childcare vouchers would have a much greater effect because they would reduce the cost of childcare that you can claim for. (You cannot claim for any childcare that is fully paid for with vouchers)

Check the prices online before you go in store to buy one, The one i seen online was on sale at £379 but in store it was £549, if this is the case ask them to ring the cycle to work scheme to price match the online price.
I was lucky enough to get a girl serving me who rang them up then price matched (she didn't have the authority to do it herself just needed someone higher up to say it's ok)

hi i put in the on cycle to work 970 which sed it wud take 31 pound a month
then had the contract through and its saying 51 quid a month? hows that work

This seems to be a con, phoned up cycle2work hotline and asked how much I would save on a £1000 bike over 12 months at low rate tax bracket was told I would pay £56 per month for 12 months . So I thought that's a really good saving. Went on RM cycle2work employee offers filled in the application and it was not for 12 months but 18 months and get this at £53.55 per month, you work it out, I'm saving FA . Of course as I've registred for this scheme it wont let me register to cycleplus scheme.
