I can well understand Dingo’s desire to crow a little, he’s been on the receiving end of some pretty unpleasant stuff on here over the last month. However, I’m not sure that this is the best way to go about it.

It seems to me that in celebrating these North London revisions there ought to be some humility too.

For every strong office that has been able to negotiate a good deal, there is another office elsewhere that has seen the screw turned even tighter by RM to pay for the London deal. North London’s good fortune has been offset by other offices misery, robbing Peter to pay Paul. A lot of us feel like Peter right now.

This attitude is foolish Dingo. You have now highlighted the I'm alright Jack attitude and that we are not a National Union standing together moreover you want people to vote yes to protect this smokescreen of revisions. After the deal and they come for this year's savings I shall tell them where to go first as now will most on here. And if and when an incentive scheme is finalised I want to know we're all benefiting equally not because these mockney units are getting more, if I've taken the pain so as to keep these low figures for you I want the gain when it's divied up. But once again despite your resourcing fudge answer you know these units are slaughtered with absorption, otherwise knowing the area they belong to managers heads would be rolling down the hill especially the planners.

I dont know where you got the idea that dingo has experienced unpleasant stuff.

You have a guy that comes here to wind people up and rub their faces in the fact that his offices are getting away with things... People have just responded to his childish taunts and his delusion that he and his fellow wasters are so great because they are a strong union.

There are some here that had similar discussions with dingo way back before the last agreement - check out the threads... They have had to put up with his gloating and unreasonable attitude to others that are not as fortunate as them.

The London crew are like people that owe the banks millions compared to the rest of us that owe a few hundreds here and there. Basically, they have RM by the balls because of their sheer number of surplus (often FT staff) and it is not all down to their ability to get the best out of a deal.

Dingo postings here is like having a top middle management of RM using this site/forum as a propaganda tools. We will not like that, will we. But he is beginning to sound like the Courier week in week out and this is one post that has fully exposed him for the traitor or enemy from within that he is.

I was under the impression that the target ep for a revision was the average taken from the previous 10 weeks - for an office to end up with 66ep they must have been incredibly inefficient for that 10 weeks!

sorry chaps i think this is now going to far, we are slagging off our own members this is a time when we need stay strong as a union. we may not all agree in what is happening at headquaters and the way this deal has been produced to the members but we now need to get this sorted or we will distroy our own union.if members are not happy in whats happening this should be solved by the ballot everyone has there own opinions on this agreement and should have there say,but to start saying union members are middle management is wrong in so may ways.
everyone knows how i will be voting and have been against the 2010 agreement + this agreement and my own office revisions since day one but if out voted i will go arguing my case.
this was an national agreement to vote on not just an agreement for certain areas, until this agreement solves many problems in delivery nationally i will be voting no and so will other delivery staff in north london.
the main thing is that all delivery staff vote and not leave it for everyone else, money dont solve everthing.

This is all so bent - it hurts.

Not only are some getting away with it - from all sorts of privileged positions.... but they try to tell others that if you are being bullied, harassed, absorbing, arguing about working beyond your times, working at more 100% BSI, not getting more saturdays and floaters not even getting enough saturdays - it is all your fault!

He must be a Tory!

* On top of that, they have planned for an incentive scheme that is likely going to benefit the workshy even more. :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

*** There are people that post on here from England, Wales, Scotland and NI - so most are simply not clever enough to work the system according to dingo. :silenced

Fish - quick question?

The poor performing offices? Shall we bully them? Perhaps the nationally agreed prep test?

The point being, unit reps do not have the luxury of answering the above questions. That is the point.

Dingo is the one that has gone too far with this thread, rubbing people's faces in it and gloating over the p*ss takes they call revisions in London. It's also very very clear from his posts that the CWU will no longer be a national union, it's every office for themselves and if you're not a strong office then tough sh*t you're getting shafted and it's all your own fault.

I'm just glad I haven't paid any subs since 2010 and won't be doing ever again.

I can't believe this thread, it appears to me that London are organised and must have good Rep's and also seem to be able to take their members with them, at the office im at people come in early, don't take a break, work over for free. The bsi is 100%+, tm1 well below level it should be and they lapse on a daily basis, Its madness! ! When the rep advises members to come in on time, , take a break, use a trolley they look at him like he's a lunatic, when he suggests a ballot, people don't want to lose money. In the same building their is a distribution unit where the members support their rep and because of this support the rep is able to force management to stick to agreements. It appears to me that with a good rep along with the backing of the office you can force management to behave. Unfortunately most members want things done for them but are not willing to make any sacrifice. Well done London

Do you believe that's how offices in the rest of the country have achieved much higher levels of efficiency?
If you do.....did you shed a tear for your colleagues?
Did the London Divisional Committee?
Did Bob Gibson?
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Fish. As unit reps we do not want the pressure of the above mentioned. However the above does happen. Now were does the blame lie? That is the question in regards to delivery issues. If we look back at the real decay in deliveries it has to be the last 10 years with single deliveries. Private car use, people coming in early, unmeasured workloads. More importantly line managers and DOM's not trained and expecting that the last 10 years is the norm.

Now we come to the "new way" of working,(science, methods, workloads etc). Who is struggling with this? The CWU? Reps? No,I believe it is local management dictated by senior management. People who do not understand something,(nor want to be honest), end up to bullying down to ignorance.

The "decay" mentioned will not disappear overnight. Unit reps have two battles. One is to educate members. Two is to protect them against the bullies. How? It is a million dollar task but I for one am happy to do so. I also believe that to blame national officers is not the way to do it. National policies are forever evolving and changing, to transmit and implement those policies,(locally...remember not one size fits all), is were good unit reps fit in.

Frustrating? Yep!
sh***s days? yep!
Good days? Yep!

Admittedly I had issues with the divisional reps of old. I believe even they would struggle with the way things are now. Meaning that once a unit turns into a DM unit the "animal" changes. Measured time, measured work.Meal breaks being used to prep etc. It is all counted. I believe that are members will eventually switch on to working their time. It is local management that need to understand and grow a pair to their managers.

No it doesn't.
It means the offices are overstaffed but the business doesn't want to pay to remove that surplus. (130 surplus at the Mount was it as well?)
Mr Dingo himself told us that it takes the business 3 years to recoup the money from EVR.
And they would still have to recruit p/t staff to ensure they had enough bodies to cover the duties.
He has also told us that they have had plenty of VRs. (It almost sounded like he was gloating about the number of duties they had lost.)
A move to a performance standard that you or I might reasonably be expected to achieve would cost the business too much so they are playing a game where the business (for now) allows them to remain inefficient because that costs less and Mr Dingo can crow about how organised and strong his area is.
I have never been so ashamed to call myself a member of the CWU.
Never let the hand you hold, hold you down.
