BSI targets are important for planning areas covered by measured workload but they need to be agreed between RM and CWU. I have said before that for employees who are not on output related bonus 75BSi should be the benchmark as it is a good level of performance but if RM want to set a higher target, and CWU agree on behalf of it's membership, they can ... but set it too high and it becomes unachievable with potentially catastrophic results. A genuine 100 BSi is quite a fast rate of work, quite achievable by the vast majority of OPGs over an attendance.

Of course you need consistency with every office, area and function having identical end state targets. If RM argue that they don't have the required control systems to ensure uniformity they need to develop them, it is not that difficult a concept.

Budfrog, what you are forgetting is that 100 bsi would intimate that we were piece workers and paid on production. If Royal Mail want that level then they must be prepared to put in a production bonus to cover our commitment.

And your comments Dingo on b&h, dignity in the workplace, workload and why these have not been sorted in the Agreement and why contrary to Nothing will be agreed until everything has been agreed, and questions raised in the consultative ballot, we still have nothing to vote on in respect of these major items, only more and more future discussions on which we will not be balloted.

I'm not forgetting it at all - I have consistently stated on many occasions that 75BSi should be the target ... it is the accepted standard for staff not on out related bonus payment (or piecework). What I am saying is that there is nothing stopping employers from setting a higher standard if it is agreed but I would agree that some form of financial payment should be part of the equation.

One of the main differences between RM and a manufacturing unit is the flow of the product which can be controlled and planned for in manufacturing whereas in a MC or DO the reliance is on forecasts/model days where there will always be lost utilisation as it is impossible to be precise.

Lincox , we have an agreement on how to stop Bullying and this is going to be rolled out to every office in the UK. Part of this brief will say no one has to work beyond their time and if someone does they will receive the appropriate remuneration.

I think some on here expected that Royal Mail would sign into an agreement that said they had managers who were systematically bullying people within offices. No employer would do that and certainly not when the impact on the share price could lose millions.

The process which will be rolled out will make it clear bullying and harassment is not acceptable and if it is happening then come forward and report it. Now if it is delivered by the DOM and Local Rep and overseen by the are and Divisonal parties then it should stop people being forced to work beyond their time.

Now in terms of workload , well there is a review within the new agreement into efficiency targets to see if their realistic , achievable ans sustainable.

In terms of BSI well too many people at all levels seem to want to blame everyone else for the farce that has led to 100BSi. Most on here claim it's everyone else's thought but not the members and reps of the offices and some of those above wish to blame local reps and members . my own view is whilst everyone blames everyone else who suffers but the members and the union.

What I want to know is why offices , reps , area reps and Divisonal reps did not take their guidance from the agreed joint statement which was signed in February 2012 by Rob Jenson and Bob Gibson which was titled Setting the Indoor Performance for Delivery Offices. There was no mention of 100BSI and explains that the setting of the indoor performance has to be agreed at local level. Now I accept that some offices prior to this date did not have clear advice and some senior reps wrongly advised some offices but this must have cleared up any doubt and this is almost 2 years old.

You see we can have all the national agreements and joint statements we would like but if Branch's and local offices do not apply them then there is no point in having them in the first place.

Now there are a lot of offices from not just London but quite widespread who did not agree to go to 100 BSI why did they have the support and all the others did not ?

That's a whistle stop tour in just a couple of weeks.
Looking deeply into the delivery office issues are we?
How long per office?

And why Lanark and Motherwell?
They are both in the same postcode area covered by the same DSM and Area Rep, what will we learn from one that we won't learn from the other? It's pretty poor that the only two offices that warrant a visit north of the border are only 13 miles apart. I take it that's a two in one day and back home before tea job.

As I pointed out before that joint statement states that you must match or improve current performance and since most reps aren't Industrial Engineers on the side they mostly took their lead on current performance from the people with the figures to hand....the Dom and planner.

Did HQ seriously think most local reps and members would have the knowledge to question IWT driven performance figures...really,I mean really?
They are posties dingo....first and foremost.
Smart guys in their own way but not trained in all that nonsense.
Where was the support and what was Bob thinking about are the only questions you should be asking.

Why are some Divisional Reps not as hands-on? - I mean hands-on on every single revision that is going on under their jurisdiction...

Perhaps some of them are simply not good enough and should pay the price and go back onto the shop-floor or there is something else going on as regards offices that have come out of the revision smelling of roses?

On the issue of improvement from current performance: I also wondered how a Rep can set a BSI figure independently of what is the previous figure was - surely that should not have been allowed or it should have been set at the same level nationally for every office...

Review of deliveries my arse. Anyone who falls for this bullshit agreement wants their bumps read. It's clearly a whitewash job to convince people this is yet another DEAL OF THE CENTURY - I really love putting that in as many posts I can get it in. The author of that pearl of wisdom was none other than dingo, and I'll just bet he regrets using that little gem every time he sees it. Now how far along the road of reviews will we get when the agreement is ushered in and suddenly there is no urgency about it.

There are so many things wrong with this agreement and yet the DEAL OF THE CENTURY guy would have you believe it's the best thing since rubber dolls, they look OK but really they aren't the real thing.
