Spot on fishtank. To blame the reps is unacceptable. Not sure many reps had heard of bsi let alone in a position to challenge it and disagree to it.

However, fishtank isn't the enemy on here and whilst the two of you may disagree at times
you're both on the same side when push comes to shove. No need to make things personal.
Fish is right on the BSI and the tools. This has been done before, but every time it rears it's head again dingo does a bob and blames the local reps.

fishtank wrote:There's no point in Bob whining about the union not agreeing 100BSI for revisions, the union didn't agree any line in the sand for indoor or outdoor performance and you can't wave a "non agreement" in a manager's face.

If the union had been interested in stopping 100BSI revisions the first thing they should have done was brief their divisional and area reps to flag up any proposed revisions above 90BSI as a potential danger and pulled the local reps in for an explanation.

They didn't because
a) Many ADRs and even some Divisional reps didn't and still don't understand the tools or the damage they can do.
b) Some areas thought they could up their full-time ratio by pushing revisions in at this level partly because of the reasons above.
c) Some full release reps are far too close to management and are easily blinded by the bollocks spouted at the tea and biscuits sessions.
d) Some branches and reps are to be quite honest only interested in maintaining their own little cosy social club and wouldn't know good representation if it bit them on the arse.

What f***ing chance did a local rep trying to hold down a real job with very little release time faced with the complicated tools and no training have?
Bob Gibson needs to have a long hard look at himself and the support structures in place outside London before he starts blaming local reps.

Number 2 .no individual forced out on
Redundancy
Would you be privalaged to the number
That have been forced out on ihr
More importantly now ,
What is been done to protect the considerable
Amount who are on the brink of it
With reasonable adjustments from atos,
Doctors reports etc been blatantly ignored
Maybe some of the long service men would
Prefer redundancy

Oh and number 10 and 19 don't make laugh
These managers are a law on to themselves
At min,and the union are in the process of
Telling us to vote for an agreement that
Will finish some of us of for good
Keep your f..king pay rise
It was never about that for me
Get some of these pec men to do a few
Months on van share in these conditions
Then tell me a tenner a week is the answer
To everything
This union makes me sick at min
So out of touch with reality

Dingo, some of the points raised on this thread in answer to the union strategies are so important to the way members are feeling in the workplace. As said before , these strategies are very honourable but mean absolutely nothing if there is not any structure or checks and balances to judge what if anything has been achieved. The membership at the moment see nothing achieved in respect of b&h, fair and reasonable workloads, dignity in the workplace. Perhaps you could comment on how you see union performance in respect of these issues in the last 3 years since BT2010, why the PEC ignored their own strategy including the consultative ballot mandate, and the fact that they mandated that there would be no agreement until everything was agreed. These matters are of uppermost importance to the membership and will have a huge bearing on the vote, probably over and above the pay increase and the future protections.

We have been promised reviews on b&h for two years and these have been at the best weak and just laughed off by Royal Mail. This agreement was not about reviews. It was about action and the PEC have failed this test miserably.

Now the CWU will be testing that fact.
The CWU shouldn't be testing that fact they should have made sure the testing was done correctly in the first place.

Closing the stable door after the horses have bolted once again.

How many people are the CWU hierarchy going to let get hammered with stage warnings and medical health retirement in deliveries before something is done?

What the hell are we paying the full time health and safety reps for?

Look at any office Dingo that's done 2-3 years worth of p&l and its the same story opg's warn out and more and more on sick or light duties and it is only going to get worse./

Never mind wasting money on lawyers for this new agreement get the money spent on physiotherapists, sports scientists and such like to get this fatigue issue sorted once and for all otherwise thy'res going to be some seriously fuc£ed up opg's heading into life on the dole through medical health retirement or spending they're retirment time in cronic pain with knackered joints.
the cwu are not interested in old full time staff
they know once privatised job losses (full time and higher earners)will come and be replaced by cheaper pt employees on min wage standard
they are prepared to take the hit to make sure their jobs are secure and monies still coming in weekly by whatever means
rem in agreement it states cwu will be the sole union rm will recognise
i wonder why
and is it not illegal for that to be the case surely one can choose who to pay union subs to freedom of choice :left:
its all a big con in the big circle of corporate greed and your union leaders have SOLD OUT

None of that makes any sense.
How will the money still be coming in to the CWU if the f/t staff are replaced by poorly paid p/t staff?
And you can be a member of any union you like but RM will only negotiate with one.
Or do you think the RMT, the NUM and (my preferred choice) the National Union of Tailors and Garment Workers would all send delegates to the weekly resourcing meeting?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

You have freedom to join whatever union you want as long as you meet their membership criteria of course.

However for the new Union to be recognised by the employer than at least 50% of the members have to vote for them in a recognition ballot (not just members of that Union). Then, or as a consequence, the incumbent Union has to be de-recognised, although there are probably a lot more legal and administrative action that first have to be gone through before thats achieved. Also if the new Union fails to get recognition it can't apply for another ballot for at least 3 years.
