Re: tie down
Duty 318s were re done as part of your office revision, the revision could not have been done with out preparing new ones, they are part of the sign off process and the basis of planning the whole revision, they do exist for your office you might just need to ask them
Also they don't change, if a new block of flats is built it doesn't affect your duty 318 your outdoor time doesn't change it's still a 4hr30 min delivery etc remember the 318 is just the plan not what actually happens so when u take your break is irrelevant as long as there is 30 minutes allocated to it in the 318

Re: tie down
To say that "you get 19 mins" is a bit of a red herring.wiltim7 wrote:We get 19 mins to do redirections, gone aways, check walk log,tie down and bag mail. then 10mins to load van and van check . 4.15 walks
This is a resource figure only.
You "get" as long as it takes.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: tie down
But why have a figure that is completely unrealistic? This is the figure the manager is likely going to use if the postie argues that he could not complete.
I think 19 minutes is not long enough even for the easiest walks and those with very few redirections.
So genuinely what is the point of a resource figure? And what is the point of the duty 318? How relevant and instructive is it when it comes to arguing with managers.

Re: tie down
its very relevant for part timers, and very good for them to use against the DOM, ie "i only have 10 minutes of indoor time in my duty and you expect me to sort in the last of my flats? and tie down mail etc well in that case i will more than likely be cutting off or claiming OT" DOm really cant argue with that because he aithorised the duty to be planned that way, chrisj wrote:But why have a figure that is completely unrealistic? for full timers its not so useful to be honest

Re: tie down
I understand that how helpful it can be where the figures makes sense. It will save a whole load of hassles and argument. It is when they do not make sense, that is where the issue might arise.
Do you think the 19 minutes example from wiltim7 even come close to reality?

Re: tie down
the planning value within the IWT per redirection is 25 sec, but it isn't a simple calculation of x times 25 because there is a default percentage reduction due to not every redirection will being required each day. It is normal that the redirections within the IWT are not updated on a monthly basis, so something to check with a manager.

Re: tie down
19 minutes for what he has stated is not totally unrealistic, would be a big push for a big duty but easy enough for a small rural, coupled with extra time to collect keys and sign on pda etc, chrisj wrote:I understand that how helpful it can be where the figures makes sense. Re: tie down
but remember that the 318 is not updated every month, its got the planned time in from the iwt for doing redirects in the model week, the 318 doesnt change due to an increase or decrease in redirectionsninja wrote:the planning value within the IWT per redirection is 25 sec, but it isn't a simple calculation of x times 25 because there is a default percentage reduction due to not every redirection will being required each day. Re: tie down
That's is correct but the resourcing meetings (if they take place) should deal with the traffic issues and with keeping the IWT redirections up to date this would suggest that each duty is available for IPS and in theory should increase or decrease the prep element depending on the workload and redirection volumes.zx135 wrote:but remember that the 318 is not updated every month, its got the planned time in from the iwt for doing redirects in the model week, the 318 doesnt change due to an increase or decrease in redirectionsninja wrote:the planning value within the IWT per redirection is 25 sec, but it isn't a simple calculation of x times 25 because there is a default percentage reduction due to not every redirection will being required each day. Re: tie down
yes but we have been discussing how the duty is planned at the revision stage and how that is then put into the duty 318 to give a resource figure for the duty so that the person knows how much indoor duty time has been planned for his/her duty, lots of things fluctuate on a daily basis but they dont affect the overall time that has been allocated for that duty in its 318ninja wrote:That's is correct but the resourcing meetings (if they take place) should deal with the traffic issues and with keeping the IWT redirections up to date this would suggest that each duty is available for IPS and in theory should increase or decrease the prep element depending on the workload and redirection volumes.zx135 wrote:but remember that the 318 is not updated every month, its got the planned time in from the iwt for doing redirects in the model week, the 318 doesnt change due to an increase or decrease in redirectionsninja wrote:the planning value within the IWT per redirection is 25 sec, but it isn't a simple calculation of x times 25 because there is a default percentage reduction due to not every redirection will being required each day. chrisj wrote:We are all making guesses based on experience but like I said this person hours is closely related to that in my office... I did say he barely has time for redirection and bag up but I assumed he has a 4.30hrs delivery - he might well has less and it will be less on certain days even if he said he gets 5.30 hours every day. He also has 20 minutes break not 30 minutes.
The 27.5 hrs in my office often do last dregs of flats (could be small or lots), missorts, kill offs, redirections and bagging up and load up. Some even drive; all will drive at some stage. Clearly they are being exploited because there is just not enough time but hey ho, most of the office come in early...
___________________________________________________________________
If only that 318 is available and so generous as you have put it... 10 minutes for kill off??? Also van checks - 6 minutes? That is if this person is in a pair and if he is driving... I very much doubt posties can categorically find out that they have 6 mins for van checks
It sounds like you work in a very good office where there is , duty 318, resource meetings and so on... But from past posts there are many offices that do no have 318 or seen on for many many years... Yes, some do have them but you appear to be the main person to refer to 318 the most... Really!![]()
Not to worry! All offices are different but some appear more different than others...
I like that .. Four legs good , two legs better?
