DUNFERMLINE postman Harry Inglis plays Santa’s helper for the last time this Christmas when he hangs up his mail bag after 18 years.
Over the years, Harry has estimated that he has delivered around three million letters, cards and parcels to his walk in Dunfermline for the best part of nearly two decades.
Harry has seen many changes to his job over the years including delivery by van instead of on foot and using trolleys instead of bags to cart the growing number of parcels around his walk.
Harry said, “I have enjoyed my job in Dunfermline. I especially enjoy this time of year, it is wonderful to deliver cards to all my customers and the children especially enjoy getting parcels.
“Online shopping has made a huge difference at this time of year when our vans are full to the brim with parcels. I have enjoyed my time with Royal Mail and I will really miss my customers.
“All our customers across the country can help our postmen and women at this time of year by posting early, using the postcode and using the recommended posting dates.
"If they do this they will be doing all of us on Santa helper duty a huge favour.”
Delivery office manager Colin Darling said, “We are really sorry to lose Harry from our office, he has been a true asset for Royal Mail but before he goes we are making sure that he delivers a first-class Christmas for all his customers.”
The recommended last posting date for UK delivery for Special Delivery items in Monday.

[cynical mode ON] Pure platitude and a desire to extract every last little work they can get out of him before he retires. [/cynical mode OFF]
