No, not sorted. It's a very dangerous bluff. RM can and probably would refuse and initiate court proceedings .

They would win much more than £1 a week for potential theft.

Royal Mail will seek to recover the full amount within the shortest time like any other employer.

This is not strictly theft so no criminal charges will be brought, but a civil claim will be a cetainty. You need to make a realistic proposal in paying back the money. I am not talking a pound a week either.

The simple fact is that you kept on receiving this money you were not entitled to over a protracted period, and disposed of the funds. It was Royal Mail who contacted you over this mistake, not the other way around.

You need to take this situation serious or you will end up with a county court judgement and your consumer credit file tarnished for a period of six years
