POSTAL chaos was avoided for Southampton today after 90 workers went on strike this morning.

The unofficial industrial action took place at Shirley Delivery Office over the suspension of a member of staff.

Rob Hayhurst, area of rep for the Communication Workers Union (CWU), said: "An individual CWU rep was suspended this morning and as far as everyone was concerned here, he followed the correct procedure, so we took action."

The strike action ended at 10.30am after around an hour and some deliveries in Shirley, Millbrook, Lordshill, Bassett and Chilworth may be affected.

theres a lot of bulling going on in our office there staring to lay down the law full break everyone back after the duty to sign out fair enough .more lapsing no tea or coffee more prep tests extra jobs to shot in.then when everyone dropped so the can get back onetime and said they don't want to work over anymore management threat was to stop us using the vans to go home in .seems like you try to do the job properly then they bully you to not do properly .but our union are scared to stick up for us i think

We have been allowed to take our vans home since a neighbouring office shut and they moved to our office.It happens a lot around the country now.

It's nothing to do with the tax man as long as you are not using the van for social purposes.
