It will be nice if those on this site are listened to for a start. Apparently, there is not a lot of harassment and bullying because the CWU carried out a survey and it was not widely reported... Just like petty crime, burglary, mugging and so many other anti-social behaviour in the country - they are not often reported because people have come to realise that not a lot will be done about things - either because the Police have bigger fishes to fry or they are understaffed and also detective work is not like what we see on TV. So the government can claim that crime figures are down - as they are not reported...

What is the point debating with someone who too ready to counter by stating that 'it does not happen in my neck of the wood' or just because some people say things on this site does not mean it is representative. This site is far more representative of posties and offices across the land than any survey or review will produce.

It is not even outright bullying that is the biggest problem, it is managers introducing small things outside the agreement, not understanding the agreement and riding roughshod over local reps and posties. It is the constant harassment, nigglings, confrontation, threats, bribery, divisive actions, rudeness, not paying OT, haranguing sick and absent staff, doing dodgy performance tests, trying penalising those that want to follow rules and use correct equipment - the list goes on... It is those things that grind posties down and occupy too much of the local reps time and attention.

BTW, I salute the local reps.

And I could not become one because I will be too radical for my office, I am too junior (will not get the respect), I am a part-timer (by the time I get to work after 8am - a lot of decisions has been made), we have too many part-timers/non members and my office is oldish, settled in their way and way too self-centred. I will most likely get stitched and get the sack within a few months even I get in unopposed... :Sick

We've heard all this before dingo, the deal of the century was going to bring a new understanding, full CWU interaction, fair and equal workloads, 75/25% FT/PT split in the workforce.............well it hasn't happened and you really expect a cultural change? That may be easy for the likes of you and the CWU hierarchy who find it quite easy to "embed" in the company.........whatever that really means but when you are on the shop floor you're going to meet confrontation, unrealistic workloads, harassment and bullying. Nothing in this new agreement does anything to address these problems.
well said dvbuk55 :Applause :Applause , swept under the carpet as usual.

I don't even think it's debatable dingo. Staff will not be listened to in the workplace, and a cultural change by managers at any level will not occur either.
The pound is King now dingo, and anything that gets in the way of making the most profit will be ignored.
Whether that be industrial relations, work methods, health and safety etc etc .....

Managers at all levels have had a slice of the profit pie, the higher up the ladder they are, the bigger the slice.
And they all want more ..........

Yes and now you're going to get your chance to get your snout in the trough, don't tell me you haven't heard of the new incentive scheme. It's where you pull your tripe out for rack all whilst the managers incentivise you so they get a nice holiday on the Algarve.
