I have now decided I will be voting "yes".
We have a three year pay deal.
Back pay worth to me, by the time it is paid in mid Feb 2014, nearly £800 after tax.
Protections as good as any one is going to get up to early 2019.
I feel there is noting to gain from continuing our dispute.
Postal workers in deliveries, hopefully will have their issues addressed.
So every thing considered it's a "yes" from me.
I will be voting no.
I have no idea or really care how much back pay I will receive.
I work in delivery.
What I did want from this deal was an end to the already ridiculous workload we are expected to just except.
An end to the bullying, lies and bullshit we get regularly when we say "no I won't do it"
Just to go to work not thinking "will it be today when I make a mistake" and end up loosing my job because I stand up for myself.
Sadly I believe the new deal will make things even worse.
Each to his own tho mate.
Well said, mate.
After the shittiest Christmas ever in deliveries, absorption rears its ugly head already. We are seen as little more than slaves.

You talk out of your orafice, do you just come on here to pat each other's pessimism on the back.
It was one of the easiest Christmases in a long time as we negotiated a good local deal, what the bollox about absorption, come in on time finish on time and only do what you can in that time, and little more than slaves - go and try working for any likewise company and then complain about your wages. Live in the real world adjust your sails and use the wind instead of complaining about it

Well said. Yes, Christmas was enormously heavy but it didn't matter one jot because I cut off nearly every day. It's the same for absorption, don't do it if you haven't got the time.

Asking someone to work at a decent rate until their paid time is hardly slavery. I accept some managers are tw@ts, but a lot of people just need to stand up for themselves instead of saying nothing then crying on the Internet that they are being picked on.

Parcel force use a model of z20% owner drivers and they get paid between £1.20 to £1.40' parcel. They are self employed.

The USO only covers 47% of the work a delivery office performs. The margin for profit from franchising is there. They could have employed people on worst terms and conditions , they could have outsource some of the non USO workload to be done cheaper and they could have employed new staff on zero hours.

The Dutch model has destroyed the postal service in Holland turning it into a part time industries with four firms completing.

Remember the remaining shares will be sold at some stage. It took BT less than 6 years to sell the remaining shares. Already there is speculation by some city analysts about who will be the dominant owner in Royal Mail a city am in the know writer predicts the German post office.

The Government and Royal Mail did not decide to privatise Royal Mail for the sake of it. They did so to make profit and act like all other privatised industries. The model was franchising , outsourcing a two tier workforce and the break up of the company.

The CWU with the embers support has stopped it. Keep telling yourself something different ! The rest of those who vote will see this as what it is a major achievement against the impact of privatisation. Yes we have to resolve the delivery issues but most members will believe that rejecting what has been achieved in order to try and get a new delivery section of the agreement would be unwise. The Delivery section of the agreement now needs to delivery on the review , we have the findings of the fatigue study carried carried out in Gateshead , Sheffield ,Stockport and Chorley. This involved Heart rate monitors , pedometers , Mail weight ,and involved 92 shared vans , 13 rural , 37 LWDT , 16 HCTs and 5 firms.

We also have the working groups.

Sometimes I wish union officials would understand that the CWU is not doing the members a good turn out of the goodness of its heart but only exists because the members pay for it to do the negotiating for them.

Without the CWU we would definitely have poorer terms and conditions, without the money the members provide the union and those on its payroll would have what exactly?
Fish , As a rep and I know many others I am not interested in what some call the revenue stream , I am only interested the members I represent and the CWU as a whole. The area I am responsible is a strong area but it's strong because the Branch's and the Divisional reps communicate and meet the members on a regular basis and if we cannot achieve what we want in negotiations , we react in a united way. of course we have disagreements and heated debates and some units are stronger than others but Every London branch got over 92^ yes vote in the industrial action ballot the highest in the UK and that's not because we bother about union finances it's cause we in the representation businesses and we listen and the members support us .

Let's hope Stuart gets his job back with the support of the members and the CWU.

The new agreements has nothing to do with the decision but for the new agreement to work it must resolve these kind of issues and better still stop these from happening.

The new flashpoint part of the agreement if it's voted in is an early warning system to try and stop such things happening in the future.

However Stuart needs all the support of the CWU and let's hope that the new agreement can help to get him reinstated.

Saying what, if we don't agree the proposals put forward then there's less chance of the bloke getting his job back and will the agreement therefore be retrospective?

this agreement will change nothing, we have had a full new management team imposed on us from outside, given carte blache from the SOM to bully, harass and sack as many full time staff as they can. RM have been after stuart for years and waited to get christmas out the way first.

Totally trumped-up, or enough little gray areas of doubt to sack him without possible recourse to the courts?
