Correct. But I think the OP is suggesting that if resourcing the workload is happening when its quiet to make us work our hours then there can be no complaints when its busy and people don't want to work past their time and maybe plans should be put in place to resource the workload when its busy to help people finish on time rather than just expect people to work late or have to confront a manager to tell them they can't finish on time.dingo wrote:It's not called summer lapsing. Under pay and mod we agreed to resourcing to workload under the terms of annex a and b. It was linked to a 1.5% pay rise as well.
The new agreement will review this in detail.

Yes cutting off is you MUST notify the manager at all costs before you leave the building not just bring mail back unless you have a problem out on delivery like a break down or a accident to you or your partner. And as you say they (The Management should respect that you cannot go over your time)kingeric wrote:Correct. Re: Summer Lapsing starts in January.
We have been told that from next week we have to plan for lapsing up to 6 walks. This is due to TNT delivering all of their DSA mail. The manager said from 6th jan our mail could drop by upto 40%. At first I thought he was Bulls####ing us but he looked worried. Has anyone else been told this in areas that TNT are delivering.

It's been mentioned and we are lapsing two walks but have been told by DOM that if they will take us over our time we can refuse - if we are going over anyway and are prepared to do them we must advise time needed before leaving. Spoke to the TNT guy mirroring our area and he tells me that whilst they were quiet on startup in November, they are now getting mail delivered out to them on the walks because they can't get it all in the panniers when leaving their offices. They seem to be settling in now and we are not getting as many misdeliveries and failed deliveries sent to us for completion.DaveH wrote:We have been told that from next week we have to plan for lapsing up to 6 walks. Re: Summer Lapsing starts in January.
Lapsed Monday/Tuesday - not an issue as it was extremely light on both packets and mail.
Thursday (2nd Jan) 3-4 people called a sickie and all of a sudden management wanted 4 duties lapsing in our office. It did not happen. I always thought lapsing was a response to the traffic levels not sickness levels
It seems to me that management have very little to complain about if the overwhelming majority of our office are leaving later than the '318's, cobbled together by our planners and that stupid horse Pegasus. Whenever I get crap I quote the scheduled leaving times of our 318's
and take it from there.

Re: Summer Lapsing starts in January.
Tnt only have about 22% market share of the postal market and from what im aware they only deliver the letters which are easily sorted into walks by the machines. And not the bigger letters and magazines. So i think your manager is right that you will see a drop in volumes but nothing like 40%.DaveH wrote:We have been told that from next week we have to plan for lapsing up to 6 walks. We absorbed on new years eve. Were going to yesterday due to sickness, but with the amount of mail that we had, manager realised no-one wound be able to complete anyway. But we were told to 'filter' the mail rather than cut off, do other offices do this?

Our union rep put in a disagreement to lapsing
I bet the offices doing lapsing already have no union reps as they would have put in a disagreement . If not WHY not

Re: Summer Lapsing starts in January.
Our union rep has no problem with lapsing and is all in favour of the manger providing extra work for those who can finish their duties early.
Those who come in before their start time, run round, cut corners and don't take their breaks can do the lapsing to fill their official work hours.

You can't put a disagreement in against absorption/lapsing in principle since it's part of the pay&mod agreement.
You can only enter a disagreement if the parameters laid down in pay&mod are not being followed.
If they are and people have genuine time to lapse or idiots are making time to lapse there isn't a lot a rep can do and a disagreement will likely go nowhere.
"Working correctly to time" is no guarantee you won't be lapsing, It only guarantees you won't be lapsing when you don't have the time to lapse.hantsman wrote:axeman wrote:Dare say dingo doesn't do it so no worrys eh !!
