Once you have sent a document, in whatever form, it doesn't matter if they receive it or not, or even if they find the material in anyway offensive.
If anyone finds it offensive, for whatever reason, then you have breached the terms of the use of electronic communication guidelines.

Hi diabolic, bad time to lose work, hopefully you have good health and the force change could be positive in the long term. My advice is get out pen and paper, work out your finances, make a plan, either fight to get your job back or start a new journey, all the best for 2014.
