Dear oh dear, I'm more than aware that there'd be a general election, I actually doubt that the SNP would survive after a Yes vote as there is many different political factions within it.

Salmond himself has said he'd renationalise the postal indusry in Scotland, is it unreasonable to ask how this will be funded?

quite simply their will be no competitors or DSA as the current UK postal legislation will cease to exist in a Independent Scotland because they will not be allowed to cherry pick what areas they can deliver as it would undermine the USO

ask yourself this how can a postal service in Ireland exist and provide a decent service when Ireland is more rural than Scotland ??

they are the only party prepared to fight for our status to remain as a public service

What will royal mails position be if scottish post is nationalised? They will have to be compensated by the scottish government. The new organisation in scotland would then require reorganisation and infrastructure investment. There would be complications from mail going through separate carriers, such as liability for lost mail.Mail delivery in scotland would be more expensive due to lower population densities and resulting delivery costs. It could be done of course similar to delivery between N/ireland and the republic .All costs money,so higher postal charges, reduced service or higher levels of government subsidy and two separate carriers operating less smoothly than what was before.Question why bother, politcal populism and nationalist pride? Swinney, one of the more capable of the snp mob seemed a bit lukewarm at first,is that still the case?

Disinterest.
They will have to be compensated by the scottish government.
Yes that's what renationalisation means.
The new organisation in scotland would then require reorganisation and infrastructure investment.
It does already,It's questionable whether RM will.
There would be complications from mail going through separate carriers, such as liability for lost mail
Which separate carriers?
Mail delivery in scotland would be more expensive due to lower population densities and resulting delivery costs
Like it is now.
All costs money,so higher postal charges, reduced service or higher levels of government subsidy
The future under a nationalised postal service or the future under Royal Mail?
Could be the same either way....
and two separate carriers operating less smoothly than what was before.
Again with the two carriers, which two carriers?,If the Scottish government re-nationalises the Scottish postal service they will be purchasing and assuming control of the entire Royal Mail network north of the border, there will be no Royal Mail presence in Scotland so there will be no second carrier.

"walrus"]Question why bother, politcal populism and nationalist pride?
Indeed, why bother to set aside funds to renationalise RM when there will be greater calls on the limited finances?
Even worse, if share prices are riding high then RM would expect a higher price than the original share selling price, so public funds are used by the SNP (for purely dogmatic reasons) and the shareholders get a nice dividend.
How inept can the SNP really be?

I'm surprised the laird of the clan McSmug-Salmond and his beautiful side-kick, the Mary Nesbitt look-a-like Sturgeon didn't force the delay of the White Paper until Burns Night (or some other Scottish day of celebration) to maximise it's impact.
Hmm, they must be losing their grip on PR issues.... :silenced

simply the worst why haven't the bitter together not set out their plan for a better Scotland within the union if it is a no vote ... they had a deadline set by the electoral commission for the 21st of December and ignored it .... maybe they hadn't a argument to remain in the UK except scare monger

declining oil funds tman Scottish oil alone is worth £30 billion a year excluding tax to the UK government ... yer having a laugh ya nitwit

"Cretin"? "Nitwit"? Seasoned and reasoned debate at it's best, although if the White paper was released on St Andrews day, then the original premise was clearly correct; McSmug plays the nationality card for all it/he's worth and the tartan-clutchers lap it up....

Heres a plan for you., we'll spend the pound, be part of the EU and NATO and keep the Monarch as head of state for starters, laughably the Guess Scotland lot wants all these things as well but can't guarantee them.

2017 England will vote take the rest of the UK out of the UK including Scotland if we are still part of the UK ... as for the pound that is a short term, I think you will find the USA will decide who is a nato member and not the rest of the UK already top US generals have stated that a independent Scotland will be part of Nato due to our strategic location in the Atlantic ... stick yer no I will be voting YES

I suppose that's supposed to mean "take the UK out of the EU"? Won't happen.

.
.. as for the pound that is a short term,

"Short term"? So short term that Oily McSmug can't even declare whether it would be the currency or not. Could actually be a very long time before an independent Scotland satisfies the EU criteria for financial admission to the Euro. Do you think they'll make the same mistakes as they made with Portugal Ireland and Greece (and they were real countries) again?
I think you will find the USA will decide who is a nato member and not the rest of the UK already top US generals have stated that a independent Scotland will be part of Nato due to our strategic location in the Atlantic
But Oily and Mary Hen have already said Scotland would be nuke-free, so why would the Americans admit a country to NATO if all that they can berth there is a diesel tug...

You sound like you've really fallen for the old tosh. Still, it will all sound good in Oily's memoirs and he won't care too much by then.

You would probably make your argument better Tman if you stopped the sillyname calling. It's all a bit school toilet wall.

What interests me is why someone with such a low opinion of "sweaty socks" really cares and going by the number of times you've commented on this thread you must really, really care
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
