Dear Colleague

ROYAL MAIL DISPUTE

We want to thank CWU members for their magnificent support during the two 48 hour strikes.

You will have seen that talks facilitated by the TUC concluded on Monday evening without agreement. During the talks progress was made, although outstanding issues remain on a range of key subjects.

A full report on the position reached will be given to the Postal Executive on Wednesday afternoon.

Royal Mail have told the Union that they remain available for further negotiations. We will be making every effort to conclude a deal before next week’s planned strikes take place.

Comments made by Chief Executive – Adam Crozier

In response to comments made by Adam Crozier the Union has issued the attached press release.

It is clear from Mr Crozier’s comments that he neither accepts, understands or appreciates the level of flexibility and goodwill already given by employees on a daily basis.

In direct contrast, the culture of command and control management - led by Mr Crozier – has every possibility of destroying what little goodwill remains.

In conclusion, we can also confirm that despite his public comments at no time did Mr Crozier attend the recent TUC talks.

Further information will be sent out in due course. In the meantime please ensure this LTB is circulated to members in every workplace.

Flexibility

In response to Adam Crozier’s comments this morning, Dave Ward, deputy general secretary, said:

“What Royal Mail has got at the moment is a dedicated, hard working and flexible workforce. To get their work done within their hours postal workers are carrying more mail than they should, not taking their breaks, and using their own cars to take mail out on deliveries. This all ensures flexibility for Royal Mail.

“Adam Crozier has not been involved in the recent talks and does not understand the specific issues around this deal. By driving through his idea of flexibility Royal Mail will lose the good faith of postal workers.â€

I guess Crazier doesn't deem the dispute important enough to get properly involved himself, beyond spouting the usual bullshit on the media.
