i work in a mail centre, i will be voting no!! i will continue to do so until i see a deal that is good for ALL opgs. i have a start time and finish time,im working non stop except for breaks and STILL its not good enough for these jumped up managers. their divide and conquer tactics have to stop but that can only be done if we stand together. lets everyone make a new years resolution to start on time, finish on time and take your breaks when due. lets have a bit of unity guys and stand up for each other then an attack on one will be an attack on all.

I know what the back pay will be spent on..mailman71 wrote:Guys in my office have already got the back money spent and we have'nt had the vote yet.
That doesn't mean that I'll vote yes, I'm just resigned to the fact that too many don't bother to read the small print and will just vote on the £££££.
I read, try to understand and then vote

On top of the money which is the biggest pull for a yes vote, we will have the CWU intensifying the push for a yes vote by emphasising the legal guarantees, pay deal, and ignoring what they have agreed in respect of the push for more savings, the lack of an agreement in deliveries, the tightening up of our ability to withdraw our labour in the event of industrial unrest and unachievable workloads resulting in bullying and harassment. This is a deal which gives a little bit to the workforce, but provides far more for Royal Mail in terms of the industrial stability it requires, rather than workplace stability for the staff, and also provides CWU Executives with their lucrative salaries another five years.
What we need is a sheet of paper sent to each member divided in two with the cons on one side and the pros on the other, so that they can tick off what is the most important factors for them and their family. Whilst this may not change the outcome, it may make the result a lot more realistic.

Do you seriously think RM would ever in their right minds agree a deal with no more savings?Lincox wrote:On top of the money which is the biggest pull for a yes vote, we will have the CWU intensifying the push for a yes vote by emphasising the legal guarantees, pay deal, and ignoring what they have agreed in respect of the push for more savings, the lack of an agreement in deliveries, the tightening up of our ability to withdraw our labour in the event of industrial unrest and unachievable workloads resulting in bullying and harassment. Do you think they'd agree a deal whereby we can go on strike anytime, f*cking up the business and still retain total security of T&C's?
I understand why people are unhappy but you have to be realistic. None of that is going to change in any agreement. This agreement is going to mean more money, but that comes at a price - nothing is ever free and we will be paying for that pay rise ourselves with the savings we make.
Personally that doesn't bother me, I'd rather do a bit more if I have the time and earn more money for it.

You are not earning more money in real terms. Royal Mail has increased postage costs way above the RPI and are making millions of pounds extra per year which is being used to meet executive bonuses and will pay for the dividends of shareholders, whilst our pay increase barely covers the additional cost of living, but at the same time we are expected to be more efficient, work harder, which will push many beyond what their bodies are capable of, just to line the pockets of those who are already paid a significant amount of money for cutting jobs and grinding out savings at the expense of service and employee welfare.
