Well call me old fashioned but I don't see that as bullying and that's probably part of the problem with B&H because it must be in the eye/perception of the beholder. It may be insulting but not bullying.
No one said its bullying but name calling or changing someones nickname on here, in a derogatory fashion is against the rules. It is also rather inappropriate in a thread about bullying.
Mind you if we all accept it wasn't bullying, how many times does someone have to do it for it to become bullying.

Well there you have it really if it was persistent and it offended the person it was aimed at then it could be considered bullying but a single throw away line? I might also point out the thread is about WCM not bullying

"It's banter ffs" - isn't that the classic excuse from people accused of bullying? Actually I don't think it's bullying or banter. It's just a simple insult, in this context used by someone who thinks that a slight insult somehow diminishes my point of view. What was really sad about your original post is that you didn't even have the courage of your convictions, changing my forum name to Brain Fairy and then using a whole paragraph to explain that it wasn't an insult to me or or anyone else but never thinking that perhaps if such a lengthy explanation was required it would have been better not to use the phrase in the first place. Even sadder, after the moderators removed it (not at my request) you still didn't get the message and not only repeated it but suggested that I should "f**k off". As it happens I'm not insulted. "Brain Fury" isn't my real name any more than Brain Fart or Brain Fairy, it's not even Brian -or Ferry and I've been invited to f**k off plenty of times before - even by people I like. I'd be happy to trade insults with you but I imagine that's not really what the moderators want. So I hope they don't ban you because as I said previously your posts are always (well usually) really entertaining stuff. Oh, do I get paid for this post too?

banter can often spill over and become insulting. an insult can be used just once , to let that person know you don't really like them or their opinion. to continually insult someone IMO then becomes harassment of a kind , which then can spill over into bullying from one side if neither person backs down.

The biggest problem with "banter" in a work environment is that it tends to provoke the mob mentality,It can be relatively easy to deal with an insult from one person but if a group of people decide it's fair game to join in then that clearly is bullying and does lead to stress and anxiety in the victim.
Of course the instigator by this time is usually sitting in the background with a smug grin denying any culpability in the ensuing carnage.
It is a pathetic way for a bunch of so called adults to behave and the excuse used even by some managers who condone and sometimes join in with this behaviour that it's just office banter is equally pathetic.

Its only banter if the name change is acceptable to both parties and if its acceptable to the community. Brain Fury has indicated his own feelings previously and its always been frowned upon on here unless initiated by the member themselves
