Protecting identity

Post by Postaltony »

How do we and the site administrators protect our identities?
The reason I ask is that I heard a rumour of possibility that RM can and have tracked down users of this site and lead to believe some form of action has been taken against individuals.

This should be a concern for us all!

You are only at risk if you divulge any information that may identify you.
Don't.

Don't tell anyone at work your username.
Don't post the name of your office/manager/best mate.
Don't share a link to your Facebook/Twitter/Whatever account.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Don't post comments like "i am the last full timer on the list number 51 after me its all park time staff. The only full time duty left is the indoor cage duty"

Its true people have been sacked and conducted for posting on this site. We write and amend the rules with this in mind and make occasional announcements. I also PM members, amend and delete posts which I think could lead to problems for posters. However, for some reason people believe this is a breach of the freedom of speech or expression so we have to try and balance these opposing influences, we are human and don't get it right all the time.

However, ultimately the responsibility is that of the poster themselves and simply put follow the rules, apply online personal security methods and keep the language clean, and you should be okay.

Suggestions:

Don't use abuse in debates - repeated posts or even individual ones can be deemed as bullying and harassment.
Don't be specific about your work - ably demonstrated by Lounge Lizard
Don't make racist or sexist comments - it will give a lurking Manager a route towards identifying you.
Don't denigrate anyone, managers, Full timers, part timers again it will help identify you.
Don't Post in the Customers Forum if you can't offer advice in a respectful way.
Don't post opinions on Customers threads, and do not denigrate customers specifically or individually - This is the one of the surest ways to be dismissed.
Also don't accuse ANYONE, but more importantly don't accuse managers of criminal activities EVER.
