Well bog, you're wrong, there was £300 offered to EVERYONE originally for a no strike action, then downgraded to the whiners who didn't want to lose the £300 if they didn't strike

I think £300 lump was offered willingly by RM - it is now £200 and the rest put into pay increase of 0.4%. Some might not get the full £100 but the money is now pensionable, if that means anything...

I do not think we could have pushed the pay increase to almost 4% (ie, putting all the £300 lump sum into pay rise) because it will raise eyebrows, it will be well above inflation and well above what others are getting.

Either way, it is not ground-breaking. As for calling it a closed-offer when it is more or less the same money was crafty.

its no good talking about splitting our union this would only play into managements hands but we should have some new faces and ideas when negotiating in the future.

The great problem is that the union itself isn't just splitting the membership but fragmenting it. The idea that each individual unit should now fight its own battles is ludicrous and the architects of that plan should resign their post. In fairness I don't think it was the leadership who thought up that little nugget IMHO this agreement has been drafted by Royal Mail for Royal Mail and the union ever eager to be involved in whatever capacity providing they can appear to be relevant just go with the flow. Full time jobs for the employees of the CWU and full time release for others, well its a small price to pay if its the membership that's paying it. We need new leadership but we know that isn't going to happen because the union bods feel their position is unassailable and in reality it is.

We need thousands withdrawing their financial support or the situation will continue ad infinitum.

I would like to belong to a union but the CWU is no longer a union. It has become a hybrid and should be called the Communication Workers Enterprises which appears to be more concerned with the success of Royal Mail than it is in defending, promoting and championing the members it is supposed to represent: those same members who subscribes millions upon millions of £s to sustain it merely to keep its feet under Royal Mails table. You have to ask yourself is that relevant anymore when it distances itself from its members and allies itself with the employer.

I also strongly support the Trade Union movement, but have become so disappointed and disillusioned with the CWU, and feel they do not have their members interests at heart. I feel totally sold out by them, and really wish we could make moves to another body or organisation that will genuinely protect our interests. Any ideas anybody.
Working for the RM I feel the need to be represented by some union/body, but no longer the CWU.

It's also means that all future pay rises start from a higher point, which thanks to compounding returns means slightly more than some people probably think it does.

Well I notice we are going to have yet another road show but the one thing about this time is we've seen it all before - you can polish a turd til it gleams but its still a turd and this time I hope the reps ignore the shine and go for the smell and instruct their members accordingly.

All that's talked about in the office I work is the money for Christmas.
Next will be the back pay so yes the deal will get voted in by the people who can't see past the £££ signs.
