Using Cars

Post by Beforenineoclockgoodone »

I have been working for RM for over 20 years & in my time here the using cars has cropped up year after year, if this issue had been nailed on the head years ago then things may be a little different, lets see when or if they bring in this flexability way of working in how many use their cars then? Royal Mail are now saying that all they want us to do is work for the hours paid, well they should not have agreed with the job & finish last time around, they have only themselves to blame for that one coz the only incentive for us at all is to get finished early & get home? The same for Saturday's get finished earlyish & have a decent weekend like everyone else & spend some time with the kids etc. Work hours that we are paid , so they wony expect us to work over tomorrow or the next day then, just work to the time you are paid for?

yeah most of our office use there cars,i must admit i have done but to be honest the time you would leave the sorting office now you will just get stuck in traffic now and plus whats the point of having wear and tear on your own car.
But starting tomorow im going to do my rounds on foot/cycle and go in at 6am on the dot.
We have 2 buses/vans what drop some people off at there first deilvery point, does anybody know if your starting point has to be a certain distance away from your sorting office to get the van up to your first deilvery point?
Just because a couple of the rounds i do on my floater are a bit of a distance to cycle.

thanks in advance

the duty is usually deemed a cycle or van duty. If its a long way to cycle itll just take you longer to get there and youll have less time to deliver, so I wouldnt worry too much about it.
