Does this really happen...?

Nearly as mind boggling as not wanting a meal break.
To be fair , we're an office with about 20 walks and its normally just the same 3 that come in early but with it being xmas there's about another 4 or 5 that have been wanting to get a head start so they can pick their kids up on time.

Whats up with these people come in on time and go home on time if u dont want the docket. Some people really do need to grow a pair and stand up for themselves my dom no longer argues when i tell him im cutting off he has got used to it. :Very Happy :Very Happy :Very Happy :Very Happy

The point remains however, that it is their time and they can do what the hell they like with it,one would suggest,no one is being harmed,if they are sad enough to want to do it, good luck to them.
The other point is that manager's should not be "taking anyone down the conduct code". That is not what it is there for,it is there as a "corrective process". To threaten to take anyone anywhere,is bullying and harassment and it is about time this was taken seriously by this company and put a stop to once and for all. We all know that B+H like H+S is neither taken seriously ,nor acted upon ,only lip service is paid to both, however these are for a different thread.

Shouldnt be cutting of the packets, its streaming mail, and shouldnt be happening, and if your DOM is telling you to stream one particular type of mail (except specials) over another he could get into trouble
Packet drivers should be taking them, for various reasons though they're not always going the same day.
I didnt know this. it is widespran pratice though.

We had a few high ranking managers at our office the other day. They told us we had to use the larger bags on the loops which usualy use a small bag. So we could fit 2 extra packets in, since we have a major packet problem. Come 9am, most of us go to manager to cut off loops and her response "leave your packets to cover the ground." This was our managers, managers response.

So is there anyone one i can report this to?

Whist job and finish exists, you will always have the early starter.
If the dom acted accordingly and stopped the job and finish, you will soon see the early starter wither away.

We have had the regular early starters in our office for years and for years I have been telling them to stop. It was their actions that spurred a 15 month lapsing in our office and to my dismay, the regular early starter who caused the lapsing had the easiest rounds.

But bear in mind you might be summoned by a Regional Director who doesn't want any attention from above on his area.
Your DOM will not thank you for it.
And your union committee might act like spiteful vindictive children and never speak to you again but ........ things should get fixed.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

A few people in our office were paid to go in 2hrs early today to sort IPS, when they got there several people were already throwing off their own walks, unpaid, over 2 hrs early. :funneh :left:

It gets better in our office.
We too have had a select few (those who do it on a daily basis anyway) come in 2 hours early on docket to do IPS. Every morning I come in, they are throwing there own rounds off and getting paid !

Moya does not give the ok to leave parcels.

Email her at justsayit@royalmail.com
Name the office, the dates and something will get done.
And keep your mouth shut even to your close colleagues there that you done it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

it definitely will for things that are getting done wrong by doms etc, justsayit@royalmail.com is the email address, moya doesnt read it, but it goes to the minions in her office and you will be very surprised how quickly things mysteriously get fixed after emailing it, it comes down from way above area manager level and they follow up to make sure the situation is fixed

7.15 start and they were already throwing their walks in at 5.15. Why I don't know, it doesn't take 2 hours to completely prep and tie up a walk anyway.
