LTB 840/13 Payment of ?200 lump sum and the Christmas Bonus
We can advise CWU Branches, representatives and members that OPG weekly paid grades will receive a payment of £400 on Friday 20th December. This payment comprises of the recently agreed £200 lump sum and the up rated £200 ongoing Christmas Bonus, secured by the Union as compensation for Colleagueshare.
All other Royal Mail Group employees (including Parcelforce), not previously in receipt of Christmas Bonuses, will receive a payment of £300 comprising of the £200 lump sum and the £100 ongoing payment secured as compensation for Colleagueshare.
For monthly salaried employees the appropriate payments will be made on Tuesday 24th December. All these payments are paid on a pro rata basis for part time employees.
Please remind CWU members that the £200 lump sum is a separate payment that has been agreed for the contribution employees have already made to business performance this year and is not subject to the endorsement of the Agenda for Growth Agreement.
Any enquiries on the content of this LTB should be addressed to the DGS (P) Dept.
Yours sincerely
Dave Ward
Deputy General Secretary (P)

Dave, how many years are you going to keep allowing RM to pay these bonuses to be paid at per contract hours, rather than actual hours worked over a period of time by PT staff? I know plenty of 22.5hr that pull 30+ hours and 30hr that pull 39+ hours week in week out, I'm sure they would very much have appreciated ~£300/£400 before tax respectively, rather than the ~£230/£300 gross they will actually receive.

Totally agree, I'd also like to see these bonus payments pensionable, or even get rid of them and give use a better pay rise.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:Dave, how many years are you going to keep allowing RM to pay these bonuses to be paid at per contract hours, rather than actual hours worked over a period of time by PT staff? • A one off non pensionable lump sum of £200 for each full time eligible employee (part timers pro-rata) in post on 1 October 2013 and on [the payment date] in respect of contribution to business performance. This is being paid separately and before Christmas in recognition of the contribution employees have made to the business during this year.cloherty1976 wrote:I thought i read it is pensionable this timetrythat wrote:Totally agree, I'd also like to see these bonus payments pensionable, or even get rid of them and give use a better pay rise.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:Dave, how many years are you going to keep allowing RM to pay these bonuses to be paid at per contract hours, rather than actual hours worked over a period of time by PT staff? I don't think the usual Christmas bonus has ever been pensionable.
The above is what it says in the agreement, but this is what it says on the CWU site 'A one-off pensionable lump sum of £200 paid before Christmas 2013.' . So which is it?

Your right but I am sure I read it on something. It did surprise me and have just looked at the courier news flash I got this morning but it's not on there. This is going to bug me and to be honest not make a difference to my pension..trythat wrote:• A one off non pensionable lump sum of £200cloherty1976 wrote:I thought i read it is pensionable this timetrythat wrote:Totally agree, I'd also like to see these bonus payments pensionable, or even get rid of them and give use a better pay rise.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:Dave, how many years are you going to keep allowing RM to pay these bonuses to be paid at per contract hours, rather than actual hours worked over a period of time by PT staff? It's on cwu website but not written the same way on Royal Mail. Be interesting but i think you have to go with the one that pays you and have never known it being pensionable in all my yearscloherty1976 wrote:Your right but I am sure I read it on something. Re: LTB 840/13 Payment of ?200 lump sum and the Christmas Bo
It's Royal Mail take on it as Dave ward never mentions it in his speech. Dingo gave me hope earlier about network employees getting the enhanced holiday pay but i think I'll kiss that goodbye as of the wording as I read it we have been excluded again from that part of the deal. Oh well what can you do hope I am wrong!trythat wrote:• A one off non pensionable lump sum of £200 for each full time eligible employee (part timers pro-rata) in post on 1 October 2013 and on [the payment date] in respect of contribution to business performance. If someone was, lets say, sacked a few weeks ago would they still be entitled to the lump sum payment?
