Just worked it out and the figures for my job are £534.73 against the improved offer of £536.81 from April 2014. Maybe your quoting class 2 monies. As I said £100 a year. Appreciated never the less but as I did say I would have accepted the lower offer and not lost any sleep over it. :Very Happy

I am confused by dingo post - where did they get the compound figures from?

And what does this statement mean:
The difference for is we have fronted ended the pay rises and therefore our members have more money up front which obviously helps with the pay rises in years 2 and 3.
. I thought RM was going to pay the lump sum upfront anyway.

Years 2 and 3 is exactly the same as before the only difference is that year 1 has gone up from 2.6 to 3% (less that 0.5%) and that is shy of £100 on the basic pay of £19500 (approx) for FT staff.

The only good thing is that OT rate after 10 hours has gone up - good for part-timers especially. And the pro-rata element has been reduced slightly from £300 to £200.

Any more offers from people that want to use their real wage figures?

Thanks Cloherty for your effort. I did not think the difference was much anyway (even when I though the first year was going to be 3.1%...

Reading dingo post is like listening to the chancellor of exchequer - front ended and giving us what the pay increase is plus delivery supplement (for those in delivery). I asked about the different overall between the old pay offer and the agreed pay deal - the answer is not a lot but thanks for the slightest increase anyway.

Like Cloherty, I would have taken the first pay offer - it was good!

Yes i work in a mail centre and im shocked at some of my colleauges in delivery who think i have it easy. I have just completed a 12 hour Night Shift. The first 4 hours was overtime, cutting, tipping and sorting bags. Then an 8 hour duty. Cutting, tipping and sorting bags. This is occasionally interrupted by my manager requesting i help clear out letter frames for less able bodied sorters. (There is nothing appararently less able about them than myself) Perhaps they are ex delivery staff whos bodies are finally packing in thru years of toil, or have simply decided to finally put their feet up. My total break time over 12 hours is 1hr 20mins. I dont mean to be offensive in any way and i am certainly not saying i have it harder than delivery. I am the other side of 50 and generally speaking i tip bags, heavy bags for a living. Oh and i occasionally wipe the backsides for people who claim impacacity. Im not complaining either, after all, i get paid well for what i do and i will be voting YES in the forthcoming ballot.

I worked for a few years on delivery and yes now work in a Mail centre.
I used to have a lot of time and sympathy for delivery postman and their work load.
No more, all you delivery postman do is slag off mail centre workers.
Now I will just think of my self, which is such a shame and I will be voting yes.

Strange how delivery posties seem to think MC staff have it easy and do not a lot (witness some comments in this thread), and yet speak to members of the public, read letters pages in the press and on-line, and they (the public) are convinced that lazy "have it too easy" delivery posties are the root cause of RM's fall from grace over the recent past.
Seems like all the over-generalising from the ignorant should really be taken with a large pinch of salt... :whistle

Several post men/women at my local DO are saying that their job has been made much easier since their revision and actually finish earlier than they used to since they are now sharing rounds and a vehicle to get around with.

Unfortunately myself and the staff I work with in the Mail Centres can't say the same. We have been taking in more and more mail in terms of DSA and mail from closed Mail Centres, as such the pressure placed on staff to clear our shift has vastly increased to a point where we struggle to clear each night. Couple that with the fact that overtime has been drastically reduced and most of the workers on the shift are also part timers. The only way to get overtime these days is to have your head so far up someone's backside that you don't know what day it is.

You guys should be thankful for your jobs because there are plenty of people in the Mail Centres that would happily snap it up just to go full time.

And exactly which delivery offices are taking on staff full time - our staff ratio is now 58/42 from what was 100% FT - that's the true cost of what has been negotiated over the years.

Now after you stroll from your subsidised canteen at £2.50 for a full English to the gym at £1 a week subscription - spare a thought for the bloke outside in the pissing rain for 4 and a half hours.

the thing is mr swinder, there might be pressure and more work for you and the managers are demanding that you clear. However, what happens if you do not clear the work? Absolutely nothing - they cannot really make you work faster, can they? do they use whips and loud hailers or something...

If you cannot really clear and it is important mail, you manager will simply ask people to volunteer for overtime - the OT will be signed off and you might even get a decent break whilst doing the OT.

folks from Mail Centre should stop trying justify and compared themselves to delivery staff. Finishing early does not mean the body is still not going through the wringer and finishing early does mean they have saved themselves time - they might just be in early...

If you go to a Job Centre or Job website and they put the description and role of a delivery staff and that of a Mail centre staff, you will find that most employers will never ever pay the two sets of workers the same. A cleaner sometimes has more responsibility that an average cutter, tipper and sorter in a mail centre. Sorry!

Anyways, you folks are funny and good luck to you all. I will swap you any day (we used to have a MC staff come in and scoop a lot of OT and do D2Ds in our office - he always says going back MC was like being on hols; he had load of energy to burn even after his normal MC shift).

FT posts in delivery offices? Are we really working for the same employer and do these folks read from the Blue Shirt forum?

Where do most thefts occur - in MCs or DOs?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

The main difference between full timers and part timers is that, part timers think they are the only ones getting shafted and full timers know we are ALL getting shafted!
Union what Union? Do we have a union?
