So how can it make any difference?

Or is this child tax credits?
I earn over £17750 and still get working tax credits, the more you earn the less you get.
Child Tax Credits yes but what you said flies in the face of what I was told by their helpline earlier today.

They're not. Either the tax office have got their figures wrong or have deliberately been given the wrong information. There is no way a full timer gets working tax credits.
Working tax credits are a payment to top up the earnings of lower paid workers and workers with a disability.

Generally speaking, you must work at least 30 hours a week, be 25 or older and be earning less than £13,253 if you're single and childless or £18,023 jointly if you are part of a couple, childless but working at least 30 hours a week (amount for 2013-2014).

Play it straight comeracing, whatever your situation.
If you get caught defrauding any Government Dept it will cost you your job.

Any debate over working/family/child tax credits will then be irrelevant
