Re: New agreement vote
Anyone who votes yes on this agreement is just screwing themselves and the rest of their colleagues over for their 30 pieces of silver.
Considering the 'groundbreaking' protections can be broken not only if you strike (no strike clause in all but name) but if the 'financial stability' of the company is under threat? Given the accounting tricks they've already pulled, they could make the business look as s**t as they want to in a year and tear up the agreement.

Re: New agreement vote
What happens if rejected?
Royal Mail withdraw all offers.
Royal Mail continue on their modernisation programme with us looking in.
Strike (unofficial or official) does matter which Royal Mail withdraw all offers. No such thing as no strike deal read the bloody document. When striking you break your contract
Workers on the street for weeks ( 2 or 3 weeks) many cross picket lines, Royal Mail use casuals to fill gaps and try to keep business going. numbers of workers turning up increase daily.
Royal Mail start legal procedures to change contracts give 45 days notice another initial surge in strike numbers but a few days later start to walk back in. union unable to bring Royal Mail to table.
Yes I like the way you are thinking!
P45 on its way no benefits though because WE made ourselves redundant.
All this rejection but not a single concise alternative strategy just total rejection.
Don't forget if my union asks me to strike I will be there with you but I don't see how you will be able to reject and expect a newly privatised company beholden to shareholders ONLY meekly to agree something which they were unable to agree in months of negotiation.
And don't start with the delivery v processing crap, crunch the numbers and delivery will and have always brought in the Yes or No vote. If you split as some suggest then good luck to you because percentages still work out that the YES vote will still come in.

Re: New agreement vote
Christ, there are some real cynical people out there, probably been doing the same job to long, and have been grounded down by the RM machine. Any unstability within the company will surely affect the share price, so perhaps RM will seek to have a decent relationship with the CWU and workforce. With any job, you can only do what is physically possible within the time allocated, you have the right to be treated with respect and dignity, and if any of these are not the case then there are correct procedures to help sort that out. I wonder how many of you voted in the Con/Dem showed of s**t, that is ultimately responsible for privatisation? RM will shortly be in the FTSE 100, the company needs to be well oiled, with a good workforce, work hard and im sure RM will look after you, but I cant see them allowing deadwood within the company being allowed to rot.

Re: New agreement vote
if your horror story is such a realistic scenario then why would Royal Mail even bother speaking to the CWU in the first place As you have pointed out there seems no need to make any deal with the union at all.So why as you say don't they just carry on with their modernisation programme with the union looking on? Possibly because it would be costly and they need the union meantime to keep a lid on things while they figure out a way to implement the major changes they want.pcb wrote:What happens if rejected?

Your entitled to your opinion and you think its a cracking deal but it requires a leap of faith and is not based on the track record of Royal Mail abiding to agreements or comes anyway near being as clear cut as you like to trumpet.

Re: New agreement vote
We have got the best deal possible under the present circumstances . All the people moaning on here that we have a rubbish deal need to wake up to reality . I cant see anyone posting a viable alternative to the deal that is on offer I am not sure what they expect from RM and the CWU . Yes we have been let down by all the main political parties , that was long ago when Royal mail was first put up to be privatised . perhaps we should of gone on strike on the 2 April 2013 to try and halt privatastion and get a pay deal on time . Iam not sure why we had to wait this long for a ballot coinciding with Royal mail floating on the stock market , but what has happened has happened ! We would be stupid to vote no ! because i would not know where we would go from here . I work in delivery and i am aware of all the B&H coming in early issues etc and the problems we face in delivery . I cant comment regarding mail Centres apart from there have been a lot of closures . We need to show a united front support and change our union by taking a more active role turning up for meetings etc and make your comments on here heard !

How you make that connection and believe members that just happen to think this is not the agreement they need are also responsible for voting in a right wing government. Quite a presumptuous and arrogant reply, I've wised up, but it seems there are still militant Muppets that need to remove their over sized heads from the arseholes and realise that damage has been done, we all now work for a private company, that needs to make money, long gone are the subsidies., be thankful for the rise, and get on with it.

Re: New agreement vote
The commitment to 75/25 full-time to part-time appears to have gone.
Predominantly full-time is all it appears to promise.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: New agreement vote
I quoted you so not sure how it could be seen as arrogant that pointing out the the connection you make is possibly a tad off topic and has no basis in fact.We are debating whether the agreement is good or not and its not been voted on yet so theres nothing to get on with, so everyones entitled to their opinion without either getting called a tory voter or militant Muppet.tilts wrote:Danelectro wrote:How you make that connection and believe members that just happen to think this is not the agreement they need are also responsible for voting in a right wing government. You think the deal is wonderful and you have gave your reasons for it,Its called democratic debate followed by a vote so why cant you get your head round that.If some think the CWU negotiators should and could have done better-whats the big deal?If being a union member means being told to shut the f**k up and toe whatever line the leadership comes up with without debating the issues then it does the union no favours.

Re: New agreement vote
I have not made my mind up yet which may shock some of you, but I think this agreement needs to be read a few times before I make the final call.
However the one thing that is disappointing is how many of the "yes" voters are going to vote based on either the Money or on some big "what if". The only reasonable course for me is taking everything into account that is in the agreement, and nothing else. If you think the WHOLE agreement on balance is a good one then vote YES - If you think that the downsides outweigh the good ones then Vote NO.
There is in my opinion absolutely no point in voting in a bad, or even a good agreement, on the premise of what will Royal Mail do if. We should all vote on the agreement itself and then deal with the consequences after. Voting intentions based on fear is a short road to heartache and disappointment.

Re: New agreement vote
Why I will be voting no, How many managers have been sacked for bullying in the last few years??????? I'm assuming next to none.
Do we honestly believe that there will be change in management style. I doubt it.
So voting is the only option. Yes is not a option, unless your enjoy get bullied and don't have a social life outside RM.

Re: New agreement vote
That's the problem TBT, these deals are always voted in because people only look at the money, they ignore everything else, vote yes, then start screaming when the changes are brought in.
