So basically we if we vote for this it is and end to national pay barging which would leave most worst off up and down the land!

If we vote yes and RM go back on their side of the deal what action can we take? if we take any form of industrial action then RM can say "its in the agreement, we don't have to honour it now" then you're left with a they started it argument. The CWU have taken away our biggest bargaining tool.

What I would like to know is what are the CWU getting out of this - we've seen our agreement proposal - now where's theirs. Maybe that took the lengthy negotiations not ours.

Well Dvbuk55 Looks like you were right but I needed to look through the agreement and it did not meet with the expectations of the masses so it is a big NO!

Re: An end to National Industrial Action?
Your right and basically to me it shows the days of the unions are not what they used to be. That's why I left maybe it's right or wrong but that was my choice. I said all along there would be no strike and the deal will be basically the same and to me that's what it is..Andy51 wrote:Stop moaning its a good deal for a PRIVATE firm, you keep forgetting

Re: An end to National Industrial Action?
As union members we really need to go back to the drawing board and make these people negotiate for us not against us. As time has gone on they have increasingly distanced themselves from the grass roots aspirations and have made the members and the unit reps scapegoats for what is clearly an organisation that has lost its way.k979aaa wrote:Well Dvbuk55 Looks like you were right but I needed to look through the agreement and it did not meet with the expectations of the masses so it is a big NO!

Re: An end to National Industrial Action?
Not quite yet freelunch, this is the proposed agreement which may well be recommended by the leadership and the PEC - but in this instance we still have the upper hand and in fact at it's basest level we are the union and have the ability to vote NO. Put the CWU back to the table to try again without the legal mumbo jumbo which has almost certainly mesmerised the union like a rabbit in the headlights - perhaps the very rabbit that was supposed to be pulled out of the hat.freelunch wrote:CWU agreed their own demisedvbuk55 wrote:As union members we really need to go back to the drawing board and make these people negotiate for us not against us. Re: An end to National Industrial Action?
It's going to be interesting if we rock up in just over 2 year's time to negotiate the next pay deal and Royal Mail tells us to do one.
What's the plan then?
Or we sit down to review the MTSF in 18 month's time and Royal Mail says you know what let's half these terms.
What's the plan then?
Mediation or meditation?

Re: An end to National Industrial Action?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but surely if Royal Mail come out with the agreement isn't financially viable, then it becomes null and void, and at that point our national industrial action will be reenabled?

Re: An end to National Industrial Action?
When we strike we are breaking our contract of employment, in the past we were a public body which meant that the Public put pressure on the politicians to sort it out. now we are privatised the company is beholden to the shareholders.
Come on it's not rocket science. Privatisation has changed everything.
Reject and the company walks away quite simple. So we expect the company to ask the CWU back for more prolonged negotiations
This is what it was like in the bad old days and the company will be able to call in casuals and keep us out. now let's see how many will stay out after 2 weeks solid when thousands of casuals have just been trained up and the jobs have been dumbed down. We would walk back in and be expected to sign new contracts much worse than the one we have now.
In the past we had a strong union as time as gone by we have a membership which is far more self centred and we need to be more savvy in our dealings.
If called upon I will be on the street in unity but remember times have changed. Christ nearly started a Dylan song. :
