Our office seems very relaxed i've failed SD a fair number of times (only 8 weeks in so get some slack) but they were without using the PDA. Did fail two the other day using the PDA but i had 5 and only left the office at 12.20pm with the round taking 4.5 hours to complete I just delivered when i got to the address which meant my last SD was signed for at 16.00. Not heard anything about it but after thinking about it i will get them done before 1pm now even it cost me time, no point giving them anything on me.

we currently have several 'standards' for SD items, yes there is meant to be a Yellow 'SG' sticker on items BUT if a customer has printed off their own labels (Amazon main offender) then there is on SG in a circle on the label. If the item has been posted at a Counter the horizon system is meant to tell the counter staff if we actually guarantee that Postcode sector anyway (some areas not covered by network on Saturdays). Strongly suspect managerial response will be based on 'traffic light system', which they have for every type of product. As long as Unit is 'Green' ie above target no response, lord help the first person who 'fails target' since when the box goes red (I kid you not) imminent contact of DOM by DSM or even Regional Delivery Director demanding action, of course, if you're on an overrunning duty you have plenty of time to 'just nip' and take SD's. It gets even more hilarious on Rurals where, quite literally, OPG's have to drive 10 miles+ to deliver to spec. this is a function that being unplanned there is no time allowed for. In order to avoid any later nastiness it is always best to bring such problems to the attention of your Line Manager, DOM before leaving Unit (Although I do understand they are sometimes hard to find since they are normally on a 'Conference Call' [see above]; Prepping/Delivering walks or at a vital WCM briefing deciding what colour the next Groupthink poster should be), also should you be delayed on delivery you should contact office (Cows on road, RTA, Major Police incident) although of course Managers may be engaged as above and 'hard to find'.

Oh, I could then mention International Items..........................?

We have a sweeper system in our DO, any walks that have specials towards the end and are likely to fail, or mean the walks will have to cut off are given to the sweeper, anything from 15 - 45 items, I've done it on OT a few times and its actually a nice little job.

They are using either http://www.royalmail.com/parcel-despatc ... ger-online" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or their own custom system. AFAIK all specials have to be attempted on a Saturday (unless there is a retention in place), even the non Sat guarenteed ones otherwise the system will see it as a fail

Not necessarily, if they aren't SG, you get round the problem by allocating to 001H and then reallocating on Monday to the walk. The audit trail is fulfilled and no query will be raised.

That's cheating the system and falsifying the quality results, a stackable offence if caught doing it, and if dom told you to do it, he is also on the chopping board

Why? It says they should be attempted but not guaranteed unless the premium is paid.

the thing thats wrong is hiding the fact from the performance figures, not the fact they were undelivered, you are basically feeding the system false information by deliberately wrongly allocating them to "Saturday Retention" when there is no saturday retention in place, thats the problem, not that they are not being delivered by 1pm

We actually attempt everything that is deliverable if possible, but circumstances occasionally dictate that an item cannot be delivered and is therefore scanned on retention - you cannot show it as anything else.

if delivery was attempted then a p739 should be left and it scanned as undelivered, it should never be scanned as saturday retention unless there is a saturday retention in place for that address, scanning it as such is falsifying figures

Not sure if you read what I posted but everything possible to be delivered within the exigencies of the service is delivered or attempted and is shown as such on the PDA and shown as 001C everything else is 001H - thus has it always been and in 10 years no one has questioned that procedure and if they do.............well it's custom and practice.

it may well be custom and practice but its falsifying figures and liable to get someone the sack.

question for you, why are things being scanned as 001c when delivered on a pda?

i did read your posts, these are the ones there is an issue with, they should not be scanned as Saturday retention unless a saturday retention is in place
