That would primarily depend on how eager they are for an affirmative. I intend to vote no anyway but I think it'll go through because the members have been worn down by the duplicity of the union and the mumbo jumbo, will we won't we, strikes on strikes off, progress made but not everything has been agreed.

As far as I understood, we were told we would be getting a groundbreaking 10 year deal on our terms and conditions.

Anything less than 10 years, and I expect many to vote no.

If the ballot is after Christmas, when money isn't on folks' minds, i reckon we could get a surprising "NO" vote! BRING IT ON!

I like it! Though I have to say I don't think 10 years was ever on the table nor part of the CWUs negotiating brief. I very much doubt I'll still be here to see the demise of the 3 year deal because no sooner will the ink be dry than RMs legal eagles will be looking to bust its chops - all within the "spirit" of the agreement of course

That's 5 years more guarantee than anyone else has. Some of my friends have been made redundant 2,3 even 4 times, a guarantee of 5 years with the same T&C's is very very good, in fact it's unheard of.

What happens after that nobody knows, but the ones saying we'll be on minimum wage are IMO speaking complete bullsh*t. I think there will be less of us, no doubt about that, and the USO will probably change to drop a day (Saturdays would be easiest) but it's all guesswork.

And even if it's only three to five years breathing space, that's still enough time to put an escape plan into place. I know that's easier said than done once you have kids and a mortgage but it won't be like the world'll come crashing down overnight.

terms and conditions etc are pointless if the deliveries arnt sorted out because the majority of us will be run into the ground in 12-18 months the way things are going

Or looks at what has been said through rose tinted glasses. If it is three years, what if there are caveats and what do we have to agree to in order for the 3 years "protection"? Do you seriously believe that the "legally binding" aspect was thought of by the CWU and if it is a straightforward agreement then why would solicitors be required to explain it. The proof of the pudding as they say................

I hope the union are prepared for the communication onslaught RM will unleash (if the PEC endorse) once the agreement goes public? Endless letters from Moya and WTL session's to sell the agreement before we're balloted. I suspect the renumeration aspect the agreement will be the 'low hanging fruit' to entice people to vote yes.

It will be very interesting to see how the agreement tackles the B&H and workload issue in deliveries. Call me a cynic, but anything short the Union and RM having an agreed unambiguous formula to put resource back into problem deliveries where they're clearly indentified and sanction people who are proven to be B&H'sing staff. Then I don't I don't hold out much hope. If its a set of lofty opaque aspirations that allow for matters to become bogged down in constant review while nothing changes (which I fear will be the case) then I will have no hesitation in voting no.

I did hear today -the good ol' rumour mill at Portsmouth MC the area processing rep has been summoned to a meeting at CWU HQ on Monday, which they believe is somehow tied to the Mail Centre rationalisation, and pay deal... that outcome, and the consequences to the us in Portsmouth MC/Deliveries will only be known after Monday and the PEC publishing their accepted deal to us...
