If I was using any significant amount of calories would there not be a discernible difference in my weight at the start and finish of my duty?
As there is if I go out running on Sunday morning.
Incidentally I recently had my pulse and blood pressure checked by a doctor. He was concerned his machine wasn't working because they were so low.
My pulse rate doesn't increase while I am out on delivery and my blood pressure only if my PDA malfunctions or I see a manager doing outdoor observations.
Clash, you have disappointed me. As one of my favourite posters I expected better from you.....

If you consume more calories than you burn then you are not going to lose any weight. Sitting on your arse occasionally moving will use calories, just not at a rate that will outweigh what you have consumed. If you are overweight, then high intensity calorie burning running etc. can be an effective way of shifting the weight. Pottering along delivering a few letters ( :chuckle ) is most probably not gonna burn more than you chuck down your throat, now if you were to run while you were doing your round( ).....

hope this helps,, and that you return to form sooner rather than later (Fishtank is now my favourite poster)
