According to the Daily Telegraph, “American activist investors” – who are becoming the main buyers into Royal Mail – believe that the company “could execute deeper cost cuts and yield far bigger profits”.
Well said. I think it will be impossible to improve productivity in mail centres. The mail has been processed in much the same way for years, nothing has changed. The managers they have allowed in are not really intelligent enough to deal with money or planning. Most have poor communication and technical skills and too many favourites and relations to keep sweet. It could not be made efficient and all new projects will ultimately fail after a year or so. World class mail doesn't work, so how could any new ideas be successful. Bristol Mail Centre is run for the benefit of a close network of people and some hangers on. Royal Mail, Privatisation, the public, Moya Greene, Higson mean nothing to them, and neither will American hedge funds.
Unless his new delivery route using "methods" is exactly the same as the old one then the fact that the delivery span is longer isn't a measure of efficiency. As for bikes being more efficient ....
what do you do to relieve the aches and pains , after your 4 hour delivery , Mr Fury ??
"why should it just be the bankers, politicians and the idle rich who get all the best things ? we demand a standard of living for our members that enables them to share in the fine wines and times that the likes of Cameron and his Eton buddies take for granted " - the late great Bob Crow RIP.
It involves the scrapping of bikes and their replacement by trolleys:
I really wish Roy,that you would stop writing those pieces from the perspective that every postie in the country had a bike.
Bike rounds were very much the minority.
What they have replaced in the majority of this country with vans and trolleys.......is a postman's back....assuming said postie is bright enough to use the trolley.
It isn't an intensive 4 hour workout and walking 12-15 miles a day is an exaggeration.
Perhaps Roy bought himself a pedometer with the proceeds of his book.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

It is in my office so it depends on which office, unfortunately someone like dingo can give us a figure like only 1% have filed B&H complaints but cant give us a figure of how many offices that have gone through delivery methods are using and have been given the time to use the designated method.
My revision is based on 5kg loops but to get the delivery done most end up carrying well over 10kg plus on the busy days rather than double back to the van.Im sure its not the only office where this happens and yes Royal Mail/CWU are aware of this.

Presumably there is a reason why the LWT can't be used?

There's the voice of a man who has never used the LWT, Try it some time brainfury, it turns a do-able 35 minute loop into a 55 minute impossible loop. That's why all our park and loop duties have 2 loops off each.

What is Royal Mails walk speeds for a LWT v POUCH walk with small loops obviously they did not do their home work on this as every postie I talk to says it takes longer with a LWT.
