to true bring in clocking on machines and don't open the office till 10 mins before you start time , weve mentioned this to the dom he said the cwu wont let them do it , me and my partner start on time , take breaks and use trolleys , we go over everyday but this will change after xmas , but there is posties coming in an hour before there time , crackers.BernardBresslaw wrote:You never will. Unless you introduce a clocking in and out system.knoxycube wrote:How could you go about stopping job and finish in your office? Today we had guys finishing an hour early and going home and I was an hour over
I came in on time today, and arrived to see a couple of guys had already thrown their rounds in, so they must have been there a good 30 minutes before their time.
As soon as they had left the office, I had my line-manager breathing down my back, obviously wondering why I was still there, after telling him I wasn't going to complete. The people who do the job properly unfortunately have to develop a thick skin and just not let it bother them. I'll be filing more grievances than I will have time to write, over the Xmas pressure, but it's part of the battle.

Re: Agreement reached 4th december
When my old office had a night shift and the rest of the office wasn't due to start till 0530, we had one postie used to come in at 2am, or at midnight Friday, and was out the door at 0630, he didn't notice one week the dom had put him on a different duty Saturday to the rest of the week, so he had thrown in an O/T round instead of the one he was doing. He and another postie even came in on Good Friday to chuck there mail in for the Saturday. Now with people like that what hope do the rest have. To be truthful I don't think clocking in machines would prevent this, they would just clock in at their right time, and the DOMs love these people so much, the dom would clock them out at the right time( ok he'd get the Lino to do it).

Clocking in/out is not practical in a DO environment and is potentially open to more abuse than simply signing in.BernardBresslaw wrote:You never will. If RM/CWU wish to ensure that staff only work their 'paid for' or 'flexi' hours I think the only route is via modified Health and Safety rules which should state that staff should only be in attendance when their line manager is or when authorised to work additional hours by that line manager which must be 'paid for'.

We're still living the BT2010 agreement pants, and dingo has already said that RM aren't going back to job and finish which incidentally ended for most of us in 2007, 6 years ago and things are much worse in 2013 where you can't even get the job finishedpants123 wrote:cheers Dingo for your info, i do feel from the snippets of info you gave, it may be a better deal than the BT 2010 agreement..

how exactly is clocking back in going to be a fairer system? we have some rural duties and a walk in our office that finish and then go and sit at home/shopping/sleep in lay bye/have a brew with someone on the round etc and then magically reappear 10 mins before they're due to finish! This to me is a massive problem throughout RM, the people on these duties think oh lucky me I get to do a 6h30 day and get paid for 8, bollocks to the duties that finish an hour late nearly everyday! I used to do a duty where i'd finish at least an hour late most days, while the bloke next to me would be done at 11.30! We have a lad in our office who actually goes home nearly every day but says he doesn't finish early because he goes home and not straight back to the office!!!!

That will finish when they put telemetry in your vans.hazzeem025 wrote: how exactly is clocking back in going to be a fairer system? we have some rural duties and a walk in our office that finish and then go and sit at home/shopping/sleep in lay bye/have a brew with someone on the round etc and then magically reappear 10 mins before they're due to finish!
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

The fact is if people are sneaking off home or hiding in laybys and then returning to the office pretending to work their hours they are risking disciplinary action and ultimately dismissal.
That's not a clever move in anybody's book.
What you have to remember is that a smart manager won't confront you until he/she has enough evidence to nail you to the wall.
Not evidence of going off route once which could be explained away by a medical emergency but evidence of you doing it consistently and regularly which is a hole you can't dig yourself out of.

Exactly what I say to them. Why risk your job? Trouble is the management are trying to put stuff on them and they're turning round and saying they don't have time to do it!!

I'd have thought a better manager would mention it at the first opportunity, giving the employee a chance to rectify their ways. A manager is there to get the best from the staff, not to let them get themselves sacked.fishtank wrote:

Oh, yeah, it's RM managers we're on about, the aim isn't to have a productive workforce but a reduced budget.
Thats *smart*!

The problem is signor management intervening with the relationship of the line managers direct involvement with the postal worker's by reducing over time agreed or stopping resourcing for those who cannot work over their time! This whole problem is down to a BONUS CULTURE of the signor management till this is sorted nothing will change!mailmonkey wrote:I'd have thought a better manager would mention it at the first opportunity, giving the employee a chance to rectify their ways.
