So lets get this straight our mate Mr Crozier, did i hear him right?, said on the BBC that one of the restrictive practices was postman finishing up to two hours early.
Now i was a delivery postman back in 1981 when if you had a hard round you had two pouches and I never made two hours on any round.
How many pouches do you have now?
I find it hard to believe that any postman now makes two hours.
For those of you that make some time, perhaps you also go in early?
So who in their right mind is going to go in early to finish early to do more work?
Opps i forgot there are some doing that right now!
I just hope the delivery postman who are 'going in' think long and hard over the loss of d2d and o/t coupled with no more early finishes of any kind!

Well on a Monday, Tuesday at our office it can be a lot lighter than the rest of the week, but hey its not our fault we can only deliver what we get?

i beast it round my walk to get finished sharp,but if i was to break it to an acceptable pace i could easily go over my time every day.

been doing that for quite some time mate, i cut off and bring about 1/5th back. Its not work to rule, its doing your job properly.

Just shows how completely out of touch with reality these guys at the top really are! for too long we have propped up the business by using our cars,carrying overweight bags because there are limited pouch drop off points and being pressurised to work over our finish times.I have sympathy with the DOMS forced into totally unrealistic budgets that drastically reduce quality of service in all sectors,basically conning the public out of their money in the belief that they are getting a first class service.

I've been doing that, i.e. working the full hours of my duty for years and have no problem with it.

Dear dormant Adam, are you really so clueless as to what is happening in delivery offices, as they are overrun with DSA mail? WTF is the government paying you for?

Do a walk for a month dickhead and find out what the business you mis-manage actually does. You might then be able to negotiate from an informed position instead of making yourself look even more stupid to employees.

Pressure comes directly from Melvin & his subordinates . You'll get even more of this accountant pen's nonsense , all about selling something you haven't got and idiots that think that they can.

on a good day i can finish 2 hours early, i go in on time, dont rush round (unless ive got to be somewhere) and dont use my own transport, other days i work to my time give or take 10 minutes. but under job and finish which rm agreed this is ok so why dozier is complaining ill never understand, especially as i doubt that he works a full day let alone a 40 hour week for the inflated wage he gets.

Here here, There are lads at our office who are taking out 10 bags & walks are supposed to be equal, they feel under pressure to go in early so they can finish on time, now thats not right, but the more they do it nothing will get done. :cfo

The walks in my office are certainly not equal. The same 3 or 4 people are last back every day.
I might finish a few hours early on our lightest day, but towards the end of the week I'm lucky if I finish 30 mins early.
Oh and I'm one of the ones that doesn't take a break.

Again it's royal mail 'expecting' you to do it. The 'carrot' of 'Job and finish' they dangle infront of you makes alot of the guys in my office come in early, not take breaks, use their own cars. It's basicaly "Faster I work, sooner I can get home"
